I'm sure the gaps will be fixed - MP Sunstreaker's car mode looked gappy in the official promo pics in the generations handbook but tabbed together well in the final product

Sunstreaker never looked as happy just full of panels. This is on a different level altogether.

I genuinely love him as-is, even before any possible reveals of mistransformed feet or the like. No self-delusion or self-convincing going on here. I just genuinely love him. People are different. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To be honest, it would sting. I’m new to the community still, but I sense there is a slow realization that Takara will keep iterating the MP line until the well runs dry. No figure is definitive, I guess it’s up to each person to figure out when to bailout...at the least on certain characters.

The comments on this thread are literally why I don't post as often as I use to.

Reveal threads seem to be very opinionated. These figures aren’t exactly cheap as well. After people have soaked it in for a few weeks I think people revert to commenting on the toy and their collections again.

It looks like everything should tidy up better, his feet and especially the backpack, no use designing a faux tire if that was the original plan for the back pack. Looks like when its all said and done his backoack should have been pretty similar to 21s. Problem is no one has came out to fix it if that the case.. Listings go up Tuesday so we'll know for sure.

I quickly got off that train after the diaclone versions got to be too much, and some of the pointless + variants. Being burned by Tracks didn't help either. I used to be about 'have 'em all' but Star Saber... the insane priced TTMall Seekers... the "I have no attachment" diaclones... it all went away. I still clicked buy on MP-44.. but I see little to gain here on MP-45.

It looks great in the one fixed POV seen in the poster... but... I don't need the rest as much.

Sorry Takara. I love some Chibee, but that backpack and those feet. 3P Bii was junk and looked better than this.

Ooof, this seems to confirm the foot transformation... What a shame.

I agree with those who think this looks like a mess, from multiple angles no less.

    EDIT:
Very interesting that there's a VW license on this toy.....
*Holds out hope that Jazz is still on the way...*

I think it would be more interesting if it WASN'T a licensed VW, given that MP21 and all Bee Movie related figures, including the reissues G1 figure, are licensed now

I want to give a reasonable critique of the figure. There are a lot of users on here that spam the same hyperbolic BS, and outright drivel. However, I am not wowed by this one like I was with MP-36, 39, and 44. I'll be using them as examples, and that is mainly because of their backpack "controversies". I will also be referring to MP-21 and 28 for reference as well.

    Let us begin.

I am not as put off by the feet of MP-45 as much as I am the backpack. It isn't even that the backpack is big, but rather it isn't cohesive or animation accurate in almost anyway. Let us look at MP-21 first:

The backpack is large and shell-like. It is not animation accurate except for the tire thing on the back, but the backpack is cohesive. It has very few gaps and gives a solid look to his body.

    Now for MP-28:

His backpack his huge! It juts out incredibly far, but it is the only Hot Rod to even have the animation accurate vents, and they have an awesome automorph to them as well. That has to be what I consider the MP moment on this guy. It is big but it has its purpose.

    On to MP-36:

His backpack is a little messy, but it stays flat and together. Parts fold in a logical way and don't get in the way. The back can also hinge in multiple ways in the barrel area, and that allows you to position his barrel in many different ways: behind his back, behind his shoulder, G1 toy cannon shoulder, or even barrel to the side of the waist (G1 toy or scenes from the toon).

Almost done, and with that MP-39:

His backpack is big, and guess what... it was in the cartoon as well. Complaining about it would be like complaining about Prime having a faceplate, or G1 Megatron turning into a gun. It is a non issue.

    Last one for the comparisons:

The backpack is big on MP-44, and partly because it houses the electronics of the figure, but I also believe because the cab would be almost hollow in the back if it was any smaller. Here is what I mean:

You can see the backpack at the back of the cab. If it was any smaller in robot mode it would make the cab look almost hollow.

The backpack is animation accurate in its sculpt, and cleans up nicely, and that is the issue I have with MP-45:

Lets begin with the one and only good thing I have about the back. It has the little circle thing, but that is it. Everything else looks like it is disheveled and has random parts hanging off of the back. There are gaps in FAR too many places. It would have been fine if it wasn't accurate but cleaned up nicely. It would have been fine it it was accurate, but jutted out a bit. This is is none of the above though. Nothing looks that animation accurate except the circle, and nothing cleans up nicely or tabs into anything.

The back is messy, and all I see when I look at it is transformers deluxe scale carbots that don't know what to do with the alt modes hood, windshield, and etc.

Reminds me of the First Edition Vehicon days: [IMG] and that is unacceptable when todays deluxes can clean up the back like:

[IMG] This is fine for a $15-$20 deluxe, but not for a $120 MSRP or $83 (after discounts) MP Transformer.

I will still hold out hope that new pictures will come along and clear things up, and that the figure may just be mistransformed. Preorder pics will give us the full story. Hell it happened with Optimus here:

Those arms LOL. Gonna wait and see, but I am more cautious than I was with previous releases. New pics of MP-44 in that thread look nice, and MP-46 Blackarachnia is awesome too. There is plenty to be excited about today.

    Take care.
