Season 1 Episode one, 1st 5mins.
No where did those specific ones in the photo come from, are they 3p or customs?
I think @Sam originally found them back when the originals releases.
They’re from Dr Wu I think.
The mouth on that MP-45 has had a very tiny sliver of black paint added to the mouth but only because the paint was a bit dodgy on the mouth out of the box (possibly because it may be a factory reject).
They're from this set:
X2Toys MP-21 Bumblebee add-on/upgrade set
@Sam found some small plastic rods that you can use to make your own, though, which looks easier and would be much cheaper if you can find the Plastruct rods:
Heavy/Scratch: - Masterpiece Energy Conductors
Ahhh, 3P. X2Toys XT006 (I think)....
Thanks to each of you for the edification. Truth is, I own two MP-01, and several other MPs (haven't bought a new one since the Generations line took off with G1), so I suppose I knew this. It's clearly a mark of quality if one values the avoidance of 'faux' parts in the engineering, not necessarily a quality component if one does not. And if the engineers themselves don't, then that's it. I've been collecting for 20 years, and do seem to recall a period wherein MPs were lauded for pulling off transformations that were both anime accurate and avoided egregious 'faux' part use. There's a quality difference, IMO, between a small fake piece that gets tucked away, and the entire roof of a figure becoming backpack kibble to make space for the anime accurate piece. Anime accuracy has never been a thing for me, G1 accuracy in general, yes. For me that simply means that, e.g., Prowl's hood is Prowl's chest, no way around it. I'm speculating, clearly, but I don't think many people would be happy if a new MP Prowl had that feature (i.e., had a fake chest in place of the actual hood) and I feel the same about Bee.
Without having this in hand I already feel that he’s gonna be my all time favorite carry around figure: Perfectly sized little chibi car, relatively simple transformation for an MP figure, and full of life and personality. Still remember I used to carry my original G1 Bumblebee everywhere I went when I was only 3 or 4.
Would also be loads of fun to have Bumblebee and his best bud Spike travel around a bit and have some traveling photos taken (example below of Rattrap’s trip to Lorne here in Victoria, Australia )
I love pocketformers. But not like legends, proper Transformers that are just super small.
Wasn't the biggest fan originally, but faux parts dont bother me these days as long as they are kept to a minimum and only used to improve the visual accuracy eg this mp45 and mp sunstreaker.
That said, i really liked what badcube did with their red alert (and sideswipe i think) - smaller faux piece for the centre chest, replacing the larger car bonnet piece, whilst keeping the car outer hood pieces in both modes.
There's an early review of V2 Bumblebee on the Chosen Prime's Youtube page
I feel faux parts are only a "cheat" if they're used to simplify a transformation or avoid engineering a part to move in the way the character model requires. For example, 2007 Voyager Prime and his entire torso being molded and painted separately from his truck-stuff (which mostly just folds onto his back) to avoid engineering the toy with enough complexity to have his chest be made from actual vehicle mode parts. When it's done the way the Masterpiece line usually does it, i.e. having vehicle mode parts be molded with an accurate robot-mode equivalent on them so they can simply be flipped around to simulate having physically changed, I'm completely fine with it. Heck, with some figures it's necessary; MP-36 Megatron wouldn't look half as good as he does or be capable of all the things he is with regards to posing and accessories if the majority of his robot mode was authentic gun-mode kibble.
With regards to MP-45, while the concessions made to achieve the accurate robot mode are definitely more disappointing than usual, I'm at least grateful that it still looks and feels like the designers gave a damn about the sculpt even if it isn't perfect. It's certainly no Age of Extinction First Edition Prime.
Bumblebee is more impressive than I even imagined.
So remind me... is there a definite release date now? Are we looking at November or December?
Definite release date is November 30, which means most will receive theirs the first few days of December.
Brilliant, thanks @chchchch !
My birthday is December 1st....coincidence??
Fuck the trolls. I bet they're little bitches face to face that avoid eye contact. You know the type. Stank like hell too.
That said this looks fantastic. Can't wait.
Thanks for the good laugh. You gave a great visual and my mind filled in for the smell too. I concur with your sentiment.
I"m all "Jazzed" for this guy. Can't wait to use his gun blasting effects!
BSF will have a review out tomorrow for this according to his FB
