fair enough. I HATE the gun storage on MP10. Makes his rifle a joke. I've bought two different upgrade kits to get an acceptable rifle for the poor guy...

I know I know, that was the trade off and I'm not saying MP-10's gun was preferable to what MP-44 comes with only that the gun storage was better. The MP-style prime I now have has no gun storage at all so I'm really not complaining, just passing comment..I mean my original post was mostly about wishing for a stripped down trailers-less version, as I do actually quit like the figure, just not the price and all the extra I don't need.

I'll take the new rifle over storage for it any day.

I wish they would stop jacking around and just show us a good clear image of the cab's fifth wheel area. You can tell from what's been revealed it's going to be a bit of a mess, but I want to exactly how it looks. That area always being an after thought always frustrates me.

@vvvTheONEvvv How close is this to a real truck? And what do you think of the robot mode? It hides the feet and achieves the dually wheels feature of real trucks. IMAG0048.JPG IMAG0049.JPG

They tried to lower the rear this time.

I know, and I really appreciate that. The fat fifthwheel area was my biggest complaint with MP-10. This one is definitely flatter, but it looks very messy.

Real truck rear is kind of messy with hollow spaces and exposed cables.

You can see it sort of clearly here anyway, in @Sam's scan.

The messiness does look more realistic to me:

Not a fan of the legs. Better than MP10 in that they're not as bulky, though too plain.

MP1 is still my favorite, even though one of the knee ratchets seems to have broken.

Yes, I'm aware, I grew up around trucks. That's why I'm usually overly critical of them as alt modes. I'm sure it will be fine, but I would like to go ahead a get a good look at it.

Thanks, that is the best look I've seen. Not too bad, but Transform Elements version cleans up better and maintains that slim profile, I plan on getting both.

Fair enough--I also have zero real world truck knowledge so I like hearing your thoughts!

    Yup.

The first thing I do when I buy a car, is make sure the underneath of it looks clean and not messy.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm very familiar with the anatomy of an 18-wheeler. My father was a trucker for a time, my uncle and brother both own trucking companies. The rear of the tractor is essentially exposed frame rails, two axles, the fifthwheel, and a mess of hoses and cables. Because of this it will probably be impossible to ever get a truly real world accurate vehicle mode for Optimus Prime, but this does look much better than previous attempts.

The highly visible fifthwheel section of a semi is a far cry the rarely seen bottom of a car. If you're fine with how this looks that's great, apparently I am too since I plan on buying it.

Just to be clear I actually do agree with what you are getting at. If someone was on here griping that the undercarriage wasn't real world accurate enough I would say they were being ridiculous. That's too much of a nitpick and I understand that. That being said the fifthwheel of a semi is highly visible. Drive down any highway and you'll see semis bobtailing (driving with no trailer attached) which puts that area on full display. I feel they should strive for a good presentation on any part of the vehicle that is exposed.
