Other Japanese collectibles and even TMNT and MOTU collectors lines are toon based now
I would spend $300 on it... IF it was...
Weapons (Axe, and Blaster)
Spike, and Sparkplug
This does not justify $150 worth of extras... Especially since most of this, and some of the other stuff is going to sit in a box, and NEVER get used.
Starscream parts (head, and sholder parts?)
Damaged parts (head, and abdomen)
Gas pump tube thingy... ?
It's a catch-22 for Takara.
If they change, then they've thrown away the aesthetic cohesiveness of the line.
If they don't change, then they're not meeting customer demand.
(NOTE: while obviously not EVERY member of the fandom was clamoring for animation accuracy, there was a portion that was very vocal about it. That was even one of the selling points of Sunsurge a few years ago.)
You have a fair point about the change in aesthetic direction, I'm just saying the decision wasn't made out of the blue, "just because".
Pros for me:
-Nice figure overall (articulation, sculpt)
-Nice tone of selected colours
-Damaged head and Season 1 version (i'll be using this one)
-(If) Rubber tires do look nice
-I'm glad they choose chrome in all the parts
Cons for me:
-The mini figures look still like ass
-The specieal beam effects are an eyesore.
-Disappointed by the lack of more damaged parts
-The jetpack being red is a huge risk, makes it look more like it has more backpack than anything, they should've done the grey one wich appeared later. (the mp10v ko includes it)
Honestly i want the heck out of this figure, i can't wait to pose it with my MP-36. But i don't think i'll ever could make a 440$ investment, not even 350$, at least soon.
This for me is better than mp-10 in every way except price, I don't understand why this needs to be twice the price of mp-36
For those people waiting for the KO (whenever that may be), what's your preferred pricepoint for it?
Part of me is thinking I'd be waiting the extra time for little to no reward.
Honestly.... i don't know too, the trailer already made expensive the possibility of cost, but most of the accessories are average, they do not seem to make a jump from 230$ to 450$. Even if he includes sounds.
I wouldn't pay more than $150 for a good KO of this, and that's excluding all the extras but including the trailer, its components, and Roller.
Just quoting this so others don't have to scroll through 50 pages of discussion and nitpicking (like I did) to see these glorious pics.
Damn, this is expensive... but I'm in. I'm all in!
The figure looks amazing. However, I would not pay $440.00 for it. That\'s rediculous. I really hope Takara cuts the price.
Check the first page! The 8th, 10th, and last posts there are the update posts I make! It has every picture that I and some others deemed important. I hope this helps!
It's not my cup of tea either, but it's a bit weird for you to say you wish Takara lose money because then they will see the market doesn't want these types of products - because of course that's what they will conclude if they lose money. Conversely, if they make money, it must be the case that there is a market for them and *you* would then have to admit *you're* wrong - right?
Comparing them to knock-off prices doesn't seem at all fair though - 3Ps don't have to fund R&D. If Takara stop making these, it's not like the 3Ps will take up the slack.
Wait until a hypothetical Hasbro version of MP-44 goes for a grey jetpack...
While I easily could set aside the money for this guy, I see nothing about him that makes him worth the price. Sure, he's "show-accurate" - from the front. But I don't recall Prime ever being depicted with as huge a backpack as we see here. And show accuracy is a negative for me anyway - the deco is less detailed than MP10, and I had to get the Reprolabel set for that release to make it look good enough for me. The trailer having a single grey stripe looks particularly bad.
Then I just can't unsee my initial impression of this guy wearing a diaper - that hip section is just too large - he isn't as bad as Titanium Soundwave, but that's faint praise at best.
About the only thing MP44 has going for it IMO is the best truck cab mode of any MP Prime to date, but that alone just isn't enough. I'm just not going to shell out $450 for a diaper-wearing Optimus who has 1/3 of his truck mode mass folded onto his back. To my eyes MP44 looks poorly designed, badly decorated and vastly overpriced. He's just not worth 1/2 a mortgage payment.
So to Takara Tomy:
All the new extras, and no matrix???
My Excitement just continues to rise for this iteration of the 13th Prime.
Forgive me if this has been stated already, but...
TFsource.com is showing the price as being $449.99 after a 10% discount applied.
According to them, it retails for $499.99
Still not worth it. Prime never wore Jenga blocks on his back.
Electronics and accessories are always used to validate high costs, despite many inexpensive toys and trinkets featuring lights and sounds.
Then import the TRU release
