While I respect your opinion, I feel the exact opposite. I do not feel betrayed all. In fact, I’m happy that Takara took a risk on a higher end figure. The number of accessories is a win in my book. I almost wish there were more as they give me more nostalgia than the actual figure.

Some of the accessories and features that I would like to see:
    - green crystal shard weapon from Fire in the Sky
    - human figures equal to the level of the Dr Wu Spike and Sparkplug
    - basketball
    -
    - Peter Cullen voice clips from the cartoon and movie
    - Special message recoded by Peter Cullen thanking the fans and celebrating the 35 anniversary with them (in character)
    - Fans Toys amount of die cast (love the heft$

WOW nice pics. Now I can finally update my toon/Movie comparison with the real thing...

    Prime.jpg

In attempting to achieve toon/Movie Prime this thing is absolutely spot on for me - couldn't be more perfect and still hard to believe a bot mode so accurate can turn into a truck mode more realistic than MP-10! Blows the two 3P 'MP-10 V1.5's away imho.

I'm totally down with essentially the window frames transforming between modes (find it strange that's considered fakery), the whole cab transforming so the bot mode torso is actually narrower than the truck cab, etc - as that's what achieves this perfect look in both modes. Prime of dreams!

Love the full red cab - refreshingly different after all these years of G1 Primes with the toy silver stripe. Would have liked the windscreen wipers and grab handles to still be painted though. Mix of chrome and white is perfect - just what I wanted to see. The grill, tanks and smokestacks in white would have been a step too far toon for me. The crotch and thighs don’t look too stark white - maybe a touch of light silver in there and they look OK.

The price though - wow! Sheesh. I'll get it at AE discount but as awesome as this is I dont yet feel it's twice as awesome as MP-36. Just dont seem right and TT aint doing this to me for any other character!!

The chest really, honestly doesn't look THAT different from the 1988 toy.

People want more social change and realism in their transformers fiction. Not so much with how these things actually get made. I know my $$ is compensating a company that has a stable of the top designers in this scene--some that have been around since the beginning. The company that helped build this house we all play in is also taking a risk by trying to evolve the scene. Gotta admire that. I assume that TT factory workers get paid more for a job than they would from a 3P job. Those same 3P companies will learn new tricks once they get their hands on Prime and improve their own products. I got no problem with that. The price of the toy is the only real world or modern detail I need from a cartoon accurate Prime.

I was hoping for something closer to the Dr. Wu companions set, which actually has painted eyes and a better likeness to the characters.

If the hidden accessory is not the shard of Autobot city that Megatron throws at Prime, I'll be mad.

This looks amazing but I just can\'t justify buying it, for $450 its just way to much for this guy, if they took some of the accesories out of it I can see it for maybe $200 I would rather spend $150 for a Masterpiece figure but I\'m sure those days are ending its really dissapointing to because I was so in for the new verison but now after seeing the price for him I\'d rather just stick with MP-10

Not that this didn't need to be more expensive than it already is, but it'd be nice if they somehow had battle damage segments from the 86 movie to match up with the battle damage mode of mp Megatron.

Because, you know, then I'd have to buy a second pair of both to recreate that scene...you know what, probably better they didn't add it.

*Edit: fix spelling...and my failure to type.

Whilst it was a bit tongue in cheek... that guesstimate was based on a potential crash in the pound post brexit, and not on todays financial figures, and whatever mental gymnastics it takes to get to 241.. which really is still pretty damn high, then Tax and shipping on top.

As you might have read, Im struggling to justify getting Cordon at £94. Im impressed you're able to get so many takeouts. I cant, i get 1 takeout a month, for me and my wife on payday, as a treat - usually between £10-16... and make it last two meals usually.
Masterpiece Tfs are my one vice, i dont drink, or go to the pub, or the cinema, or get my hair cut, or go out for meals except maybe on a birthday... so forgive me if I say i think that the price is high.

But... im not overly interested in getting this particular version so far... I am VERY impressed with the articulation and the accessories and extras, and some of the design - the head sculpts in particular are fantastic.
Less so the paint job - its generally about what i was expecting mind. But I'm so far going to assume like megatron, there will eventually be a plus release that looks far better. The trailer and alt mode looks terrible with the basic paint scheme to me at the moment.
Somehow though, i really like it?

Did i read somewhere about him possibly having Starscreams wings?

There is a battle damaged head and a part that will attach to his lower side that recreates the damage from the spear Megatron jabs him with during their fight.

Yeah, but no broken cracked windows. Megatron is awesome cause his main chest piece is all smashed up. It's cool that they got the main "wound" part for Optimus but it's not as cool as it would have been with smashed up chest and broken windows too.

It's actually been many different factors:

1- I moved about 3 years ago, and had my collection packed up for nearly 2 years, without wanting to unpack it all. I just had no desire. It's almost like moving took my attention, and the desire for TFers didn't come back.

2- The desire only came back November of last year when I realized that the Titan's Return line was probably the best modern day line Hasbro had released. It made me very excited and made me actually unpack and display my whole classics collection. Unfortunately, while Power of the Primes did have some nice stuff (Dinobots, Abominus, Rodimus, Optimus), it still felt like a step back for me from TR. Which didn't make me excited for stuff to come and the stuff that came was indeed sub par.

3- The newest line does nothing for me.

4- MP prices are higher then 3rd Party prices at this point, and 3rd Party Prices were already too high.

Also taking a step back also made me realize how much I was spending on some of these figures to begin with and compare it to other things in life. Like I said in the initial post, this Optimus is the price of all of my sons Christmas gifts combined, with money left over. I mean, I can literally go skiing with my family for 3 days with the price of this. And I will get more enjoyment in those 3 days of skiing then this figure.

Which brings me to my final realization that these just sit in case. They don't really give me long term pleasure besides looking at them and thinking they're cool. It's more, like whao, I got this figure which I always wanted. But in looking back, I have a full G1 TV show collection, a 99% full Classics G1 TV Show Collection, and like 100 G1 MP type figures. Is this really why I started collecting? Did I really want all of this? Or was this more of a gotta catch em all mentality that took hold of me?

Having said all that, I don't regret my purchasing decisions in the past, hence why I haven't done some massive sell off (even though my wife wants me to). It's just whatever scratch I had when I first started this hobby has been scratched by my $30,000+ collection. I just didn't realize it was scratched till I took some serious time off. Now, I will check back in here and there and maybe pick up a really cool piece or 2 a year (if that), but I am pretty much done.

10 quid and 2 meals? Wow.

I'm clearly a lazy bastard with too much money. Wait till you have kids and they want food too.....

AE generally mark down and avoid import customs btw and the wings were a misstranslation, they meant intakes.

I wouldn't mind if Hasbro sells one without trailer. I mean who doesn't have a full cab and trailer at this point, LOL. I have 3 different color MP scale trailers and a bunch of others in smaller sizes.
