Considering the outrageous pries these days for authentic MPs, at least it would be the last. XD

    I know, so was I.

But in all seriousness, the real silliness is that $450 is not at all some unobtainable number, especially when a lot of the people saying "I can't afford this!" have probably already surrounded themselves with shelves and even glass cases full of action figures and statues that total in value way way more than Takara's asking price.

Everyone look at it this way, for a measly $440 USD, you get courage, honor, leadership, fortitude, willpower, and play "the touch" when opening your $440 prime. Also, when this piece sells out, how many will complain and whine that they should of bought it, and begin the begging, crying campaign for takara to rerelease it.

Based on current conversion rates to Canadian dollars, this puppy is about $600 for us.

Man, I miss the days when "splurging" on some Masterpieces meant spending $150-$175...

Hasbro's never tried anything like this, they wish they were in a position to even consider trying this.

I was contemplating picking up MP-10, but wanted to see the details on V3 Prime before I chose. I just don't know if I can justify that price point for a character that isn't in my top 5 favorites.

I think this is more expensive than that non transforming Hot toys prime from a few years back, hell Hot toys Diecast Iron men are cheaper than this. Im torn cause I want one so bad, but I dont think I can swing that.

its even sadder cause we still only have grey proto images, I definitely cant pull the trigger until I know what it looks like

For this kind of cash they must be going after the high-end statue crowd.

I don't see why they would bother tanking it on purpose if it's that easy to see through, why not just send it and say "We're making them at a loss and as unfortunate as it is, we need to end the line."

Pass. I am content with my MP-10.

Although are MP-1 and MP-10 even considered Masterpieces anymore? To me "Masterpiece" means a definitive piece. How difinitive can something be if there are 3 versions of it.

The first MP Prime and Megatron needed redo's as both needed improvements, and the scale had changed, this seems a little unnecessary, and I would have preferred seeing a different character in MP.

Now, after this guy has been released, and is good enough of an upgrade, I will consider a KO version.

I'd like to see an MP Unicron finally. Official or not. Lol.

You say this post is serious, but is it really? Do you not see the difference between dropping $450 on a single thing at once and spending $450 on many things over time? Really? Also, people take into account the usefulness of things. I’d wager many of people that are complaining about the price have spent the same or more on phones, computers, mortgages, etc... But it becomes a different proposition to drop that much on a hunk of plastic that will likely just sit on a shelf vs something you use daily and might be vital to your job or whatever.

I was really hoping to see MP RID and Armada Prime in the next coouple of years as their 20th anniversaries approach, but with the where the prices could get by then even as someone who adores those characters, toylines, shows and designs, I couldn't even numerically afford it and refuse.

Well after looking through this thread starting with my previous post I have come to a conclusion.

There two mindsets on this figure's price :

    1. The price is madness or how ever you wish to express it being overpriced.
    or
    2. It's not that bad , you got 9 months to save up.

I can respect both points of view.

I am a #1. I am on a tight budget and it is likely even splitting it over 9 months I'd not be able pull it off and besides I consider any figure over $250 that's not a city former not even worth the smallest of consideration. yes that includes MPs and 3rd party stuff. My budget just doesn't allo0w me to take that kind of hit.

Not saying any of these high priced figures is bad just that the price is too steep for me. It is also likely I am not alone in this if this thread is any indication.

I want an MP prime but due to various bouts of bad luck I have never been able to pull the trigger, at this point i'd even jump on a fairly priced MP-1 if one came available in decent condition and complete when I had the cash. This one just isn't going to happen for me.

All that said I suspect the real driver behind this price jump is the Starscream disguised as Optimus Gimmick. While its great Homage to a g1 Episode it to me is just not worth the cost.
