Wow that backpack is huge.

 

The runner lights better be a yellow/orange too, not just red.

Also, I'm sure you can unscrew the backpack and remove the electronics, but surely you're not suggesting that the entire thing can be removed and it would make no difference?

That's where the whole front of the alt mode is. I don't think that's just a little hollow piece holding the sound device. I think it's all crucial to the toy.

I was worried I might be tempted by Prime. I can't say i won't be until I've seen him in color, but I can't imagine wanting to upgrade to this from MP-10.

Wait, wasn't the plan to have the ion cannon be the one with the sounds? I'm not sure how I feel about having a speaker on Optimus himself...

I'm not that keen about toys that need batteries.

 

Hmmm. Truck mode doesn't look quite as horrendous as those initial photos. And it seems like they actually attempted to make the back half look like a truck bed instead of a pair of legs, but we'd need to see it without the trailer to be sure.

But it's just so boring that his chest & abs are 100% faux parts. None of the actual cab front is used in the bot mode. And man, looking at him from the top & back... MP-10 is just way cleaner and less gappy.

I'm happy for those that like him, but this guy just doesn't feel like the definitive Optimus Prime to me.

 

Honestly I'd love the speaker, but since it's prob gonna have japanese voice and not Peter Cullen, I'm not that excited. Especially because making it an essential part makes it way harder to replace with new sound clips compared to Megatron's fusion cannon.

 

Chest is 99% actual windshield, just twisted and reversed.

Every single MP Optimus so far has had fake abs.

 

That might make the gun too big. I'd rather them do it in the trailer.

 

I'm just glad that Prime's head finally looks like the True Prime again.

from the first MP prime it was always based off of Don Fig's Dreamwave Comics design.

Transformers The Movie (1986) was always what it was about for me. and always will be.  

 

When are we supposed to get more info on this guy anyway? Sometime during this Wonder Festival thing?

I feel like a lot of stuff regarding features is getting lost in translation...

 

Wow that sculpt is just amazing imo.

Takes on so many different characteristics depending on angle. So expressive.

 

Usually we get colored pics and more info 2-3 months after Prototype reveal.

 

Back then, I thought about mp22 and 36 heads were too big in pics and mp39 backpack seemed too big as well. They all looked fine in hands. Hope this will be the case as well but I will keep expectation low.

 

I swear, this will be the last and definitive Prime for me to buy. (Already said that about Classics Prime, MP01, Faith Leader, MP10, PotP Prime... )

 

Someone should digi this one instead. But with more vibrant cartoon like colors (but still dark blue)
