I was happy my replacement Prime had straight antenna. My 2nd one doesn't matter since it's staying in alt mode.

My 1st Prime had terrible chipping on the crotch and they were happy to give me another with no charge. My replacement did have 2 chips on his right headlight but those were easy fixes thanks to @BrutiKing

Part 2 of my MP collection begins!

Getting a 2nd bot for alt mode displays!

Was gonna start with MP36 (as he was my first figure) but he's either sold out or +$100 overpriced atm. So went with Prime instead. It was a good gauge though, considering he is my biggest display and I wanted to check if I could fit him into my planned display case (was planned for May purchase but that ain't happening now). Thankfully he just squeezes in about an .5-1 inches of breathing room on all sides and plenty of room overhead.

If the Megatron and Shockwave+ situation doesn't improve by June, then Wheeljack+ #2 is next.

I’ve had no knee issues but if Takara was to send stronger, metal knee joints to all of us owners I would still switch them out. This goes for any figure. I really think it’s sad that they don’t do this with their figures.

Metal parts wouldn't solve the issue. It's a relatively thin tab that gets damaged in this case. A metal part can easily shear off in the exact same manner.

Cost savings for sure. Metal joints for each MP44 knee ratchets are not cost effective. Lol.

They could have just tested it properly and then discover it's too fragile. Then they could have changed that blue tab piece and make it a complete one piece with the rest of the lower knee. No one knows why they did not do it that way...

Weird because they advertised him long before release and tested it extensively. Or maybe they just adopted the final design at the final second... I don't know, I am just disappointed by TT

We don't know if it was rushed, nor if it was tested extensively, we never got confirmation but those are logical explanations for what may have happened. Takara might not ever acknowledge it publicly.

If they changed the knee joints for MP-49, then the inevitable re-release of MP-44 should have the new knee joints as well. Hopefully something was done to address the issues in future production runs.

In all likelihood, it probably comes down to something I described in depth earlier today: Generations Selects Seacons in color

The issue probably wasn't on anybody's radar. The CAD and the prototype mechanics worked just fine, and the test shots probably came through just fine. But there's room for play in the manufacturing process, but after the designers give the go-ahead, it's too late. There's no chance for intermediate sampling by the designers in the middle of the production run. And even if there were, given the issue is seemingly random, there's no guarantee they'd catch it.

Once this toy gets rerun, assuming the issue was brought forward at all, I foresee that knee mechanism getting redesigned a bit. Probably just opening the channel a bit to ensure the tab engages like it's supposed to, instead of missing and getting mashed up.

Made a deal with a fellow board member for MP-44 sans trailer and accessories.

One tire broke off during transformation and the yellow paint is scuffed.

Still I'm excited to be done with G1 Masterpiece.

That is until Jazz is released.

    Thanks to every helpful response.

    Stay safe and healthy.

My dad had a heart attack on Wednesday afternoon...he’s good, had some stents installed and is recovering well, getting moving out of ICU this afternoon! Anyway since I wasn’t allowed to visit due to COVID I took my mind off his surgery by having Mp44 go through something similar...Sometimes these silly Transformers toys are a great comfort!

I call it “Prime’s gonna be OK!” :D

Hey I’m sorry to hear that, bro. I’m glad your father is doing ok! Feel better, man! I presume he got a coronary angioplasty and they dropped a stent in? That will significantly reduce the occurrence of another heart attack. He’ll be coming out of this stronger than before. Once the stent endothelializes and becomes a part of his arterial wall, your father will have huge quality of life improvments! I’ve worked on these stents in a past life, and I can vouch for their efficacy. My pops went through the same thing 10 years ago and he’s still kickin.
Glad TF can bring you joy in a time like this.

Hey thanks man yeah he had 3 stents put in from what I understand...I know a few guys both at my work and that are friends of his and my mom's that have had this done in the recent past and it seems like a really helpful procedure! Much better than the open-heart surgeries my grandfather had to go through back in the late 80's, we've come a long way since then! Especially if he can be persuaded to live a bit healthier of a lifestyle going forward...aside from the stress of having this happen when neither my mom or I are allowed in to see him things couldn't have gone better as far as surviving the initial attack and all the medical treatment he has gotten...doctors are all very pleased with his progress!
