& you managed to make the truck mode look seem less without any gaps , or pieces not tabbing properly. nice job !
Is it truly safe to transform this guy back to truck mode? I’ve seen some terribly scratched yellow on the crotch skirt as well as the silver on the abs ... frankly I’m terrified but I’m also a free spirit so feels pretty lame of me to shirk from battle ...
I've transformed mine back and forth quite a few times. No damage to the paint, not on the yellow or anywhere. You just need to take your time and be careful and gentle. Don't force anything, see what's blocking the way if something is hard to move.
I’m just worried that when I’m busy fiddling with those gas tanks on the sides to try to get them fully aligned I will incidentally damage the more sensitive paint areas ...
Well... this part is done pretty much at the end of the transformation when everything is locked into place so I don't think there's really any danger there unless you are REALLY rough. The part that fits over the yellow crotch parts should be locked in place very securely by then.
But if you really are that scared of it, maybe you shouldn't transform him.
I really like that figure, largely because it transforms. I, too, have seen pictures of damaged paint hoping mine would not be like that. Thankfully, the paint on mine is great and I would have been very disappointed if transformation would have damaged it.
I can see how some people could damage the paint in some areas, but I think it is avoidable if you are gentle and take care moving the pieces.
I do wish his grey chest pieces would have been cast in grey and not just painted, just to be safer from scratches... but these are also fine on mine.
The only two spots I think you really have to watch out for are the blue hook scratching his pelvis and the grey rib pieces - try to keep those extended on those swivel posts.
Love how beautifully Prime goes with the + redecos!
Megatron doing some head sculpt appreciation, inspired by City of Steel.
not sure if the same prob as mine but check this thread out:
Minor/Repaint: - MP-44 General Fix Thread
hope it helps
Wait... You didn’t have to lick your mp-44 to get those gas tanks in place?? If it wasn’t meant to be licked, why is the chrome so tasty?
Checking for die-cast parts. Anyone?
Flip a coin. It's entirely possible you'll come up heads. But even if you're careful, you might come up tails. I transformed mine to bot mode, back to truck, and again to bot...using videos to be extra careful. I ended up with a minor nick in the gray abs. That probably ended my future transformation attempts.
As much as I love the MP series, the risk of paint chips / scratches scares me so much I am just going the super expensive route of buying 2 of everything. One for a bot mode display and other for an alt mode.
MP 36 was my first and after 3 transformations (back and forth) he's got 3 spots of issues. Luckily when in alt mode it turns into one issue but still it got me to go this route.
Hopefully my exchanged MP 44 doesn't come with issues right outside the box like my first.
If HasTak were to ever release a MP-44L, I'd prefer it be like this -
Figure - Almost no paint, save for eyes, chromed bits, etc.
Blaster & Axe
This would would make it both affordable for many, and allow for people to pose him without fear of paint chipping. $230 is a reasonable price for this version.
Anybody have a match for the white paint on the crotch and legs???
Save an additional $70 and get the eventual reissue that will definitely have "fixes" on AJP when it comes out. You have ample time and you'll get the complete package.
These "lite" versions many speak of will NEVER happen.
It is called TE-01. Check it out.
Nah, that’s TE-01. Doesn’t quite get the aesthetic right.
I don't want the second rate version, I want the champ.
