Even taking that into account, there are copies where the blue tab underneath the knees is not moving to get into the cutout underneath the upper thigh when bending the lower knee joint. So if said part is stuck, you're going to get it damaged even if you bend the entire upper knee ratchet first.

That is why Brutuking took the leg apart and glued the part in question

Thanks, buddy. I will try that when I buy him.

EDIT: After reading all of the negative comments about the knees I AM concerned. This is the first MP new release I have passed on since the Convoy 2.0 (It was buy MP-44 or back Unicron.). If this is a massive problem that TT may address with a second release I may wait. I bought the first release of MP-09. I never want to relive that "calf-disintegration-upon-first -transformation" debacle again.

I opened it again last night, still haven't transformed it but I can confirm I have zero paint defects, at least from what I can see.

    It just looks so beautiful.

I don't give a shit. If I have to fix the knees, so be it. And if the reissue fixes the problem, I will buy it again.

Well... It's closer than all prices that are less close, I guess.

Prime looks gorgeous in truck mode. I wonder do toy car people (matchbox, hotwheels and others) do they collect transformers just to keep in car mode? Because they look just as good as toys dedicated to just cars, even the $20 transformers cars look sweet.

Yes. There are car enthusiasts that really dig on Masterpiece Transformers. They have little contact with Transformers fans, but they are out there.
This website, for instance, is not a Transformers site. It is a car site, talking about MPs:
7 Affordable Masterpiece Transformers Every Auto Nerd Must Have

Hasui was right - MP-12 Lambor appealed to car enthusiasts, and got them interesting in the line. Got US interested in the line. Made people buy a Transformer that would have never otherwise bought one. And yes, for many of us, the car mode is primary, and our MPs spend as much time if not more in car mode.

If someone wants a pair for a discounted price, I've got two still sealed in the original shipping box, see sig for details.

I'm going to open mine today.

Would folks recommend doing the knee fix in the video (clipping the offending piece off entirely) as preventive maintenance? Or only if it actually breaks?

See what you can do about it first by going the other suggested routes, but if you definitely intended to keep yours and not sell it then go for the clip.

I’m definitely clipping mine if the friction becomes too loose. Couldn’t care less about two ratchets as long as the main knee is ratcheted it’s fine.

My MP’s are mostly displayed in the A stance anyway

As @BrutiKing mentioned, the Gorilla Glue gel works very well for this. I also tried Loctite Super Glue gel, and that seemed to work perfect for the right leg, but not for the left. I have absolutely no idea why the glue would secure one side and not the other--doesn't make any logical sense--but that was my result.

It's a very new video from wotafa, which should be his third for MP-44.

    Rather unprecedent from him, afaik.

    More detailed transformation stuff.

Does AJ ever offer discounted pre-orders for reissues? Cause I can see myself getting another one if the reissue has fixed knees.

    [Negative post alert.]

Argh, Takara! My second copy arrived today. My first copy has a small chip in the corner of the Autobot insignia and a tiny scratch in the red above the windscreen in robot mode. I was philosophical about it seeing as I had a second on the way. But nope: my second copy also has a slightly messed-up Autobot insignia:

    IMG_2637.jpeg

I've added a touch of paint to fix it up as best as I can:

    IMG_2638.jpeg

Should look fine from a distance...

But really? (There's also a line of white paint on side of the truck which I have just about managed to get off with a fingernail, and two hairs in the red paint.)

I just can't get any luck with MPs. Every MP I get, even when I get more than one copy, has paint flaws of some sort, when everyone else on here seems to be getting perfect copies. It drives me nuts. (Not that everyone else gets perfect copies - I wouldn't wish my luck on them - just that I can't get the same sort of luck!) This is such an amazing, amazing figure, and Takara is knocking it out of the park with the design and engineering on their MP line - and then are being seriously let down by QC. Maybe it makes me entitled, but I don't think there should be hairs in the paint of a $450 figure, and I don't think workers should be packing copies with obvious bits missing from the prominent Autobot logo. Fingers crossed there are no other glaring issues when I transform this copy.

Anyway, rant over. It's hardly the end of the world, but it does detract from my enjoyment of this hobby. I love this figure, and it would have been nice to get a perfect one (for a change).

Cant believe this day has finally come. It's like the birth of another child!

I heard Ironhide reissue chrome was better. Most recent case, Dinobots shoulder ratchet was improved.
