I ended up ordering one of these, this is a ‘plus’ figure done right. I’ll probably try to sell one of my two original MP-18s and keep the other for car mode, but I don’t think there will be much demand.

The only thing that bothers me about this release is that they JUST released MP-17+ and didn’t give him any of the extras. I can’t believe 18+ wasn’t in the works when they decided to pull the trigger on 17+. A second face would have been especially nice. I’m still on the fence about Prowl+. As things stand now with 18+ and the new Bumblebee, there aren’t enough things different about 17+ compared to 17 to make me want him.

 

Upon reading about the original diaclones: it seems that the diaclones that would go on to be Hound and Jazz were not changed. At least, that's what I got from the article I was reading.

On a sidenote: With Sunstreaker being the first diaclone, and the diaclone introduced a little later that would go on to become Sideswipe.......It pretty much puts to rest any questions about which of our beloved Twin Hellions is the elder (Sunstreaker), and which is the younger (Sideswipe).  

 

Diaclone Fire Engine to Inferno was not changed as well...

 

I don't think Wheeljack was changed either. Possibly Ratchet, as well.

 

And Ironhide, Mirage, Sideswipe too I think...

 

I may just order a second MP18+.
I want to see what WonFest brings us first.
I would also like to grab a second MP17+......yep, I'm not a fan of this line, not at all

Somebody needs to inform TFS of Bluestreak's correct release month. They have him listed for August. Double checked TCP, and they have July.  

 

Damn. I totally missed both this and the new Bumblebee announcement until today.
The attitudes in the official forums can get so antagonistic that I tend to steer clear of them, but then I miss out on the news!!

I really like this. The flat toon colours really pop on his design and the new head is gorgeous. I do agree with all those others that Takara seriously dropped the ball by waiting till Streak before actually doing any remoulds for the plus line. Both Sideswipe and especially Prowl would have greatly benefitted from a little fine tuning. I vastly prefer the new face on this to the squashed mess on MP-17.
Hmmn. I’m going to need two of these, one for Alt and one for bot. Same with 17+. I wonder if I tweaked and painted up one of the 18+ heads into Prowls colours and installed on my bot mode 17+, and then shoved the 17+ Alt mode head on the Streak I use for Alt mode... the biggest difference seems to be Streak has a hollowed out square in the centre of his forehead crest (which can easily be filled in) and the crest itself is slightly smaller.
I think that could work and would improve the look of MP-17+.
May have to look into that.

 

My original MP blestreak is my favorite MP figure, I love the orginal headsculpt and glossy finish on it, so this is an easy pass for me. I'm also a huge fan of the dioclone blue one as well. Glad the more toon accurate TF fans are getting a new version to make them happy though. It's nice to have options
