Because between currently available and future Hasbro product, there's well over a dozen Titans Returns figures that could be solicited for release as Legends in the Japanese market, but in the calendar year 2017, there's so far only 4 known Legends releases: Astrotrain, Leo Prime, God Bomber, and now Trypticon; where in the months leading up to this year's sudden trick, they've not been shy at all about multiple figure releases per month.

So it begs the question, why the sudden squeeze on new product?

Same here. I dislike huge Transformers.
I passed on Metroplex because he looks odd AND he was too big.

But a big dinosaur? Yeah, I can do a dino. I went ahead and preordered from TCP. :)

Because the movie is coming? Maybe Takara has more realistic expectations of how much they can solicit during movie years. But the idea that Takara is going to skip such major characters so popular with their fanbase is silly and alarmist. There is no need to worry. We do not live in a world where Takara releases a Wheelie but not a Kup. That world does not exist.

Agreed; no need to sound any alarms. Takara is just taking time right now to release The Best Movie toys and the incoming TLK figures. More Legends TF's are coming, of this I'm sure.

I'm actually glad that TT is taking their time with the newer Titans Return molds; gives my wallet a chance to breathe. Trypticon is definitely on my radar!

Didn't Hasbro say they weren't going to SDCC this year?

I really love the Legends line, but my wallet is more than happy to have a break from all the releases, especially since I'm an MP collector too and there's already a ton of those to get.

However, while I'm glad Takara is making Trypticon, this will be one Legends release I'll be passing on. That's just way too much money for a TR repaint.

I\'m predicting eyeless cartoon Trypticon. Might be more into that.

I pray that's not true. I've been holding my breath to see Takara's repaints of TR Deluxe waves 3 and 4. I sold my Classics Rodimus in anticipation!

I think we will start getting stuff again in November /December so patience. The stuff we dont get from Takara will be the repaints , so if you want Krokmaster Quake, ect buy those from Hasbro.

    Dear news staff,

Not all currencies are countable nouns. Japanese currency is one of these.

I'll hop on the bandwagon complaining about the lack of news on the other Legends releases.
Chug is my main collector line.
I dab into movie, mainline and MP from time to time but thats it. Chug toys are where its at.
I dont mind waiting till september or december for Hot Rod, Sixshot etc.
But i would at least like to see some pictures.

This feels like one of those threads that are useless without pics.

A TT deco could be great, could be shit, depends on your preferences.
What I can say for myself is that if the TT version somehow includes a Brunt, I'll live with any of the other deco choices (even the "eyeless Trypticon").

If Takara's comes with Brunt, but has black eyes..... I'll be waiting to see what the SDCC Trypticon looks like.

Yeah, people who want things like TR Voyager Optimus or Megatron should definitely pick up Hasbro's now, not wait for a Takara version that will never come.

Dang, you're probably right. Hascon is in early September, so they're probably shifting exclusives there.

If Hasbro can get away with skipping SDCC, that's great for them because it is expensive as hell now. Even Marvel had a couple years where they just had some editors go to do meetings and whatnot, but no booth. But it's kind of humiliating to be the biggest comics publisher in the US and not have your own booth at SDCC.

I kind of have a feeling Hasbro will end up at SDCC regardless of what they said. But who knows? Maybe it's another deal where they shoot themselves in the foot in a major way, like taking their shows off of networks people actually watch to try to launch their own doomed Hub. Actually, that situation is eerily similar.

Why should a comic company even bother with SDCC anymore. It stopped being about Comic books years ago. people got there to watch movie trailers and cast interviews with whatever's hot on netflix and hbo this year.

Comics aren't where the money is now. But it's a pop culture convention. Like you say, everything is there, and thus there is free televised advertising from the news coverage and whatnot. Coverage there would never be if it was only comics. And the jump your competitors would get over you makes it marketing suicide not to go.
