Pricey by my standards but well built. Love the colours.

    Minor gripes:
    1. The torso unpegs during handling.
    2. As said before by others with regards to the thumb and sword handling.
    3. He slightly tilts to the front. But with the sword at the back it functions like a counterweight that balances him back.

    Overall a happy purchase.

I love the Dinobots and I really wish somebody would make a Volcanicus in Masterpiece quality, size and proportion. I would make room on my shelf for that one. Maybe even a JinBao oversized one.

The price manda was asking for DHL was horrendous (the price of another set) so I opted for slow poke EMS this time.:cry

Volcanicus seems to borrow a lot of ideas from existing 3P combining Dinobots. So I dunno if anyone would chase the Hasbro design or just go off something like Shuraking.

Posted this in other threads. Takara improved everything about the POTP mold, but left the Seacon mold hands alone...which is a problem due to the floppy thumbs. The sword is too much for the thumbs to handle unless at specific upright angles. It's more of an issue with swords than blasters, but even blasters may cause the thumbs to flop.

One way to stop the flop is to anchor an adapter to the inner hand ports. Until someone makes one specifically for this, using a pair of right angle adapters will work. I had made custom right angle adapters earlier, and they worked, but weren't quite thin enough to avoid stressing the ports. The Nonnef ones are thin enough, but don't quite have the right port and peg measurements (slightly offset mold causing issues). When fixed (still took much less time than making more of my own custom ones), the Nonnef ones will then work fine.

Other examples. GS Abominus blaster also causes flopping issues and the adapters help with that too (not shown).

Do you think that Takara Tomy/ Hasbro wanted us to permanently glue the tab in? Once we decided the orietation of the thumb that is.

No, they haven't done anything like that. Probably combination of not knowing the final tolerances on production samples and grossly underestimating the support needed for a combiner size weapon. There's just one tiny little tab holding the thumb in place. Even if glued into place, it still wouldn't prevent outward thumb flopping.

It's amazing how much this version has made me love Volcanicus. Least favorite combiner before, but great new parts, better paint job, and great QC has put him towards the top.

I found my TT Volcanicus (original feet) tipped over in the display while the Hasbro one with TDW feet was still standing. o_O
