Yeah, remember that parts-forming has been a big part of this line. Most the early sets had arms just being changed out. Dia-Battles and Cosmo Battles also formed this way with a total of three arm sets you could choose from, though one set had a rocket booster mode, too. Not to mention all the fully swappable parts between many sets. Want to see some crazy cross-set combinations, check out Twitter. I'm more curious to see the actual parts breakdown to start thinking of alternate uses of this set.
That’s the thing I don’t like. I hate having extra parts laying around. Hopefully there’s a way to store them in the larger form.
Unlikely- it's one reason I've kept all my diaclone boxes. Some folks have recommended getting little craft/tackle boxes for parts storage. It's almost impossible to expect all the extras to "store somewhere" on the set- since most sets come with extra (optional) parts, whether they're connector bolts (most of the power suits) or extra guns (Dia Battles/Battle Buffalo). Heck, the Waruder are guilty too with their Rapto/bug head to some extent. Though i agree it's annoying, it's just "part of the hobby".
the back shots show slots that look like you could hang them off the backpack, that are likely used for the vehicle mode of the upper armor. might look dumb, might be easy enough to make them look like thrusters. (pic from previous page)
Not to be rude or disrespectful, but why is there an issue with extra parts? The entire line is modular. Heck, even the suits have spare hands that just stay in the containers most of the time.
That would be great for attaching the Cosmo Battles thrusters, if the channels are the same size, which they should be.
Diaclone is the king of extra parts. I use this to store/organize spare parts. Compartment organizers / Section Case cm x c 【セクションケース 】 | DAISO
Whilst I don’t personally mind overmuch, I can see people seeing more of a problem in having to set Convoy’s entire arms off to the side versus a suit having multiple load outs neatly stored in its container.
That's totally fair. With the line being designed as modular, spare parts are bound to happen. It is pretty nice when they can all be included in a build, though. Heck, I could never stand parts-forming outside of the original Combiners, but I adore this line for it.
I forgot about those... that probably could work, and the V-Max arms probable could do thrusters like in their storage form in vehicle mode... but that makes that backpack SUPER CHONK.
I think a lot of it (at least with the bigger sets) is due to the fact that most things slide around on rails, are delivered (attached?) by other drones/jets/parts. It's just very... satisfying. Or parts are being ejected due to imaginary battle damage (I think that's the only reason Dia Battles has that front channel that unlocks on the swing hinge?)
I'm not surprised if the official configuration just ditches the arms. The very first dia-battles as well as something as big as big powered both had leftover cockpits. Worst comes to worst, you could just leave them in the trailer and call it a day.
Convoy having new arms and the old ones set aside is only a boon for those that already have any of the older mechas, really. I always loved the look of it, but haven't stuck with it because my convoy would be arm-less! I mean... how can you say no to such an upgrade? (borrowing RK's picture): I like to think of it that all the verserisers in the hero colors, all the D-caliber colorschemes added into the ranks of that said color showed that the devs do consider the earlier line with their subsequent releases. ... Diabattles' mode was never abandoned. All the parts for him (the verserisers, the swappable arms, etc etc) are already there, and now Convoy's adding that additional power towards the earlier design. Unity and cohesion in partsforming! (if that makes any sense )
At first glance it looks like the arms are ditched but I wonder if there is some armor added to the shoulder and the forearms with the original hands folded into the forearms and new hands included with the forearm armor? I can’t see if the elbow joint is different or the same as the original arm. It’s possible the original vmax arms are still used.
So sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't seem to find an answer. Is this new Battle Convoy set coming separately, or are they releasing it with another run of VMAX at a higher price point?
it's being sold on it's own, no idea if they're going to do another run of Battle Convoy but there is the black shadow version coming soon.
