You know, I've been contemplating what to do with my boxes as well. I haven't held on to packaging with any of my other collections, but for the life of me can't figure out why I'm so compelled to keep these Diaclone boxes. I've thought about having a go at selling them in bulk, but shipping being what it is... But I'm certain I could get money for them to buy more... I, then, think about displaying the boxes, but there's no room. It's the craziest thing.
I'm the same, I even sometimes keep diaclone models I'm not currently using back in their plastic inserts inside the boxes. I think it's because they're so expensive :S lol Other hobbies, you can buy as much plastic as is in a Big Powered for like US$80
I've kept all my boxes so far, having moved a couple of times- I feel much more comfortable repacking everything versus just letting the crash around in tubs... plus there are so many small parts. *If* I ever sell off [part] of my collection- I couldn't imagine trying to do it w/o the box- unless it doesn't have a clamshell. The Skyjacket is the only box i've thrown out.
Cutting all this out and applying it only took a full week of my free time haha and now I just need to find some monitors that fit these perfectly.
Did anyone else pay off their shadow convoy yet? That guy was right at 200$ From robot kingdom. This is the first time I’ve really thought a price was excessive. Don’t want too many more TriVerse sized bots to cost THAT much
Ah right! I only used the stickers that came with DA-70 then and I had forgotten. I’m really uncomfortable using factory stickers on more expensive items. Maybe one day I can convince myself to do it. well…. Yeah it’s bigger than I made it out to be. Ugh. It’s a nice sized bot it’s just 200$ was a little shocking. And when you’re used to paying big bucks for these things it made me pause for a minute. “Do I really need this? Honey!!! I’m using your card!” Hehehehe
I recycle the boxes, just takes up too much room no matter how beautiful. It makes me feel better that all the graphics on the box are duplicated in the high quality pamphlet so not missing much without the box.
Haha sorry no I mean I’m uncomfortable destroying the sticker sheet. Seems so permanently mine in that case. Something about seeing unused sticker sheets from the 80s in present day has stuck a chord with me. Maybe I’ll be able to use the sticker sheets on at least one of my convoys.
I have been pretty firmly not into Waruder stuff... until yesterday! I just put in preorders for the new Gigantor, the Ripper and I've got my mouse hovering over the purchase button for a solider. I wish new Gigantors cores were blue rather than red, but it’s going to be huge and so badass! To be honest I think I really came around to loving the Ripper design to the point where I’m more excited for it than anything. I’m just into freaky bug aliens lately! I’m also stoked to be able to get a Big Powered. Not sure what that dark blue will be like in person, but everything else about it is to my liking. The picture of the back of it on the official page with all the tank treads is just mouth watering. I love how that looks.
There are starting to be issues with aged sticker sheets. Eventually, the glue dries up... And, I haven't got my pods yet, but those trailers have been a long process getting these decals cut and placed. They definitely look better than the factory ones.
Soldiers are terrific as well - I can’t recommend them enough, especially if you like the other Waruder designs!
I’ve also hit the breaking point with the boxes. The smaller items are nice and compact, but the box for Battle Convoy alone is occupying a lot of space in the closet… I’m going to wait and see how big the new Gigantor ones come out to be, but either way may have to do something about it by the end of the year for sure…
This may sound morbid, but I save the boxes for my daughter in case anything happens to me later in life. She can get a lot more for them if they're complete in the boxes.
Just leave money…. Or stocks… I can’t imagine having my family sell the stuff… the challenge of dealing with greasy collectors, with the nitpicking and the insistence on non-creased corners on boxes…
