If any lurkers are still in the fence, the above is fairly sound advice. It accurately reflects my experience over 1 year ago as a Diaclone freshman. It really is the "late tax" (appreciation) of sets older than 2023 that gets costly to collection starters. The metaphor/comparison to other IPs is also very helpful for those who have experience with other products lines. Something like Transformers, is usually a poor comparison because Diaclone is produced in lower volume, higher parts count/plastic quality, and higher aftermarket demand. I've seen some prior comparisons to LEGO as well that seem accurate.

Right on! As someone who was initially prejudicial against Battle Buffalo as a newcomer (total 180° today) what was it about Battle Buffalo that appealed to you so strongly?

Decided to open my Hawk Versalter <Orbithopter Unit> Dark Ver. tonight. Man, this colorway is so beautiful to me. It just pops in a whole different way than the white ones. (I haven't opened my CM version, yet. I probably will do a seperate day with just CM sets...) I see this as a special black ops type unit, for those missions they don't want on the news.

Not my favorite photo... With the poses required for stable balance of these without using a stand, it was hard to get the light-piping in the eyes to work like I wanted. I'm sure I'll do different photos with it later.

I especially like the weapons you've invented at the aft of the vehicle. Maybe try to work a pair of the red parts from the last post I commented on into the middle somewhere? The big guns kind of get lost in all the gray plastic. Overall, another fantastic custom config though.

Given that it seems to be an homage to the VF-1 design, I'm hoping for this too :)  but also blue/white (Max) and green/white (Miriya) and black/white/yellow (Roy) and also beige (everyone else!)

Horus is an absolute masterclass in design.

Really though, they can pump this toy out in as many colorways as they can think of, and it would take a Sisyphean effort for me to avoid clicking add-to-cart every time. They could do 14 colorways and I'd probably end up getting two of each. I won't know for sure how much I like it until I have one in hand, but holy cow: do the product photos on the website ever sell this toy. I'm so in love with it that it's tempting to stop being a Diaclone collector and become a Horus Versaulter collector.

Takara absolutely knew what they were doing with a Valkyrie Versaulter

argo and Agaruda got three color ways and this is getting no fewer

it's so funny looking at the mandarake prices for trirambler and argo versaulter, because even without any other foreknowledge you can just feel that they're the ones most people don't care about

    Trirambler can give you
    legs
    a great core
    two guns
    two "tentacles" or a skateboard

but its torso is as plain as they come, it has literally nothing.
I mean, Trijetter has miniguns behind its hands. Not even that.
It's a committed design, for sure, but leaves a bit too much value out of the box.
    Yet...

Acquatic vehicles just don't have as significant an appeal, unfortunately. (Yamato and BlueNoah don't count because they're spaceships, too.) Submarines are especially niche it seems.

And that stinks, because history in this thread shows a great deal of anticipation and appreciation for Argo prior to release and on acquisition. But then what? They're really tough to stage in-theater for max enjoyment. You can zoom the wheeled ones, fwoosh the airborne ones, but what do you do with boats and subs? ESPECIALLY subs? (Disclaimer: I love the Argo. But I'm objectively aware that it has a much smaller fan base than its peers.)

I was initially cringe-induced by Diaclone Cy-Kill/Bike Robo (same for Battle Buffalo). But I took advantage of the low demand and low price of TriRambler and changed my tune. It's actually pretty great. (Same for Buffalo.) I ended up collecting each color.

The ramblers got the best arms articulations… those shoulder joints are impressive and enables a lot of poses not possible with other Trivers

    Thanks!
I tried that, I really didn't know where to put the Matrix's block so I parked the two red Dianauts inside the trailer.

In other news: "there'd no getting off this train we are on"

    Edit
Yep, no regrets on getting 4

.... this strikes me as the beginning of a *very* cool micro mobile operating base / outpost. I keep staring at it and thinking " If there were a command tower or something in the center..... ". Something akin to a spotlight tower / communications tower.

Imagine reinforcing the rear opening hatches with additional armor and having a squad of armed Dianauts rushing out of one (sure a Power Suit would make more sense but ...dramatic effect lol). Auxiliary communications in another pod. A repair bay in another. A heavy weapons turret unit on the ramp of another would really add some variety.

That looks *fun* and needs some low level Waruder or alien threats to make the scene come alive.

Agreed, there'a lots of potential. I guess this is what the designers had in mind for the original raid suits, with those panels/connectors.

Got him into a superhero landing pose for about 30 seconds before everything started to capitulate, luckily with no damage so considered myself fortunate and reverted to putting the knee/hip braces back in & just playing it safe!
