It isn't theater of the mind. There's a hinge, and somewhere in the Hobbymizer vid it referred to those bits as a ramp... so a way for Diatrain to drive up under the arse between the legs and arrive upon the flight deck. As one does.
I didn't think of a ramp... that's clever! (and explains how Dia Train gets in there tbh... or at least... lands... I spotted the hinges, I just figured they were for 'transformation'. I should have known better lol. But i don't think we're magically getting 'storage between those thighs'. We'll find out soon. While I do think there will be room for the cannon clamps from DA-98... I'm not sure I'm convinced there would be a 'flawless' transformation to pants mode with the cannons strapped on the flight deck. They'll need a way to pivot/slide all the way around the deck.
. Cannons on a flight deck doesn't really make logical sense to me in the first place. If you have a detachable or flop-out gun on the runway, it stops being a runway. You gotta VTOL like apparently everything Diaclone can do to get off the ground. Why the battleship configuration has turrets instead of fighters. Runway gets you off the ground going fast in a fuel-efficient way. Seems like all Diaclone has to be able to at least hover for the partsforming to work.
I suppose the 'preferred' method for the Battleship configuration would actually flip the main turrets up, and then you'd 'under sling' the 'new ones. Though I have to admit... now the front looks odd.... I suppose you could still run the Aircraft decks in this mode too... but they'd be hanging off into oblivion. Much like Big Powered with it's turret upgrade from DA-19... I do like the looks of this.
still these two questions stands what massive Warauder is GD going to fight, and can it use Gigantor as an accessory?
Perhaps Gigantor is the core unit and something massive docks into it's feet and shoulder sockets, then something docks on the 'chest'/head area and sits on top? It would be interesting if they actually gave us a massive machine dragon... but... I'd actually argue that giving us a massive Warudos that works like the Original 80s version... might be more realistic, and be three sets roughly the size of Gigantor, in scope. ------------- It's mostly just really hard to think of 'massive' and 'modular' (to the extent most of the Waruder swarm is). --------------------------- and seeing pictures of a Pod Grander next to it... still just don't sit right with my brain. But oh man... when it stands up... it just dwarfs everything. Also just noticed that we get a purple V2 Dianaut with the Battleship expansion... so we have the whole Scooby gang except for Fred (just need a V2 in white, with blue pants). It'd be a stretch... but 'fred' could also be the red/orange-y one based on his tie...
Anyone have pics of DA-92's convoy wearing DA-85? Just wanted to make sure the combo looks good before I drop 20k yen on a powered greater.
I think a twitter post here when Ground Dion was first popping off had one... but I think they painted the combined head... because it was red? From earlier in the thread. Rather impressed they painted the combiner head (especially since both blue and black are so dark).
Couple more Twitter finds, First pic I've seen with Haslab Unicron. I reckon the full height (with antennas/gun barrels etc) will clock in somewhere between Max and Uni. Also, it is very minor and a bit odd but there is a difference in the Cosmo Rollers canopy though it's not as noticeable as the Diafighters.
That reminds me my Unicron is still in his box... I... should get around to finding space for him too. I wouldn't be mad if GRB is as big as Unicron... but I kind of doubt it. But I could see from 'tips of the antenna' and or arm gun mounts... being a little bigger than Fort Max. That earlier shot, though I think it used forced perspective, with Generations Metroplex... felt pretty spot-on. Also, that's odd about the Cosmo Roller... but I guess for those (like myself) that get OCD sometimes... one can try to remember which came with which...
Given the hip height, getting it taller than Max (or even the same height) might make it look a bit short-legged... Unless there's a leg extension on the way. Big booties like victory saber and some gubbins to use them as a sort of heavy artillery/construction vehicle with the big gun/crane that detaches from the legs?
So... yeah, Grand Dion is everything I was hoping for, and more. But... QC. A part from the foot is missing. I can return it to Amazon Japan, I am wondering if there are other options to get that part?
CD Japan asking for another 7k for Ems. They said I could choose another option but haven't given me prices for them so I've emailed them back requesting quotes. GRB has a big/tall main chest and a tall head design to boot. The chest was one of the main attractions of the original both visually and as a play feature and I just cannot see them half arsing the new one. Add the head antennas and possible shoulder towers/cannon barrels (who knows what they'll do) and it could easily surpass Metroplex/Max Argh, that is shitty luck. I would get on to Amazon asap and hope they can sort it while you're still there.
Yes me too. They've asked for an additional 7350yen. (in addition to the original 6830yen). I did expect this to happen lol. I wonder if there are any reasonable alternatives, or if I should just pay and do the EMS.
thanks. I bought a second one and I am returning this copy. I am glad I could try it out, but for this money QC should be much better.
It doesn't excuse it... but it makes me wonder after the original delay... if they may have 'rushed' a bit at the factory (I wonder if they get time incentives).
It can happen... No company can afford 100% QC at every stage and humans are just falible. If you have time, I'd wait until you open second one when it arrives, in case you have a different issue. That way, you can swap parts and complete it before returning it.
