Beyond my IN DEPTH toy hunt report?? Lol. Feel free to PM me any general Japan questions you might have.
Even EBAY has nothing for dark Ripper and Varja. Course I'd probably have to pay through the damn nose there anyhow. I can't win.
Since they’re both pretty recent, there probably aren’t any used ones going up for sale yet. The only hope right now might be the slim chance some Japanese retailers might have some in stock at brick-and-mortar locations, and seeing if you could have someone like @TogeAtama procure one for you. Or just keep an eye on Manadarake and see if used ones pop up there.
I only do sellers in the US. In PA they passed a law where if you order from overseas, you have to file with the state a sales tax form or face jailtime.
If it has been in effect for 11 years, and several of us in PA have never heard of it, and order a lot from overseas, it seems fair to say it isn’t well enforced. How would the state even track an individual buying items from overseas?
All the overseas items comes through customs. They have to inspect those items before they allow them into the USA. A lot of it is done electronically so it wouldn’t take much for them to flag anything going to PA. But yea, clearly it’s not enforced too much. It was passed way before Amazon and other online etailers started collecting taxes for states. That was a big fight back then.
WOW, thats a crazy, and very random law over there in Pennsy. That said, a lot of these odd, and unknown to most, on the book laws do exist. They vary from state to state, but are usually not enforced on small levels, namely all of us. Its more directed, and enforced for large companies importing and shipping tons of items, especially in bulk, from overseas. Its just another way the state , and or government, can regulate and tax items coming in. I seriously doubt it would ever be used against folks like us who are buying a few things here n there from Japan, or China, etc.
Not get completely off-topic but since it's been the last few posts... I'd put money on most states having this. Heck Federal tax forms ask if you buy stuff from Overseas... but as others have mentioned... I think it's mostly targeted at large/bulk importing and getting a cut of that... it's likely not worth going after individuals for at most a couple hundred in taxes over the course of a few years.
This was a big surprise to hear. I’ve sent a bunch of packages to folks in PA (including some friends from childhood there too) - not sure if it was because I usually send things as gifts but never heard of anyone getting fined or carted off to jail for it… That said, it is not my country so please do let me know if there is something I should be aware of so I can keep helping people out!
