Probably the Warurders. Don't get me wrong, they look cool. But their design feels like a bit of stretch coming from the old line. Compared to how the hero part of the line was translated, I feel like it misses the mark a bit. Again, I'm not saying it's not a cool design. But the originals were the precursors to the Insecticons and the modern line doesn't really translate well into that.
I would love to see a modern version of the original Warudaros, like they did with those 202X powered suits.
I figured pairing up the Warudaros Soldier Type with the Ripper and Vajra would help account for some of the former's versatility shortcomings. As for the Evolise Grappler, none of the site's sponsors have it in stock anymore, but RoboToyBase still does, and I figure I could probably pair it up with the normal colors Ripper or any other Waruder mecha in that colorway. Getting a Pod Grander by itself is just my fallback plan, which is something I'm hoping it doesn't come to. It's sorta insane how V-Max was the only release of the Pod Grander tooling. Part of me hopes in the near future they redeco it and the Pod Gantry in black to supplement the Tactical Mover stuff so at least it'd fit with V-Shadow. Thankfully for the Versriser Units, at least Vol. 3 is still available on RoboToyBase also, in both colors. Getting the other two designs will be trickier though. But at least there's second-hand sites like Mandarake and Buyee to make things somewhat easier. I am torn on what colorway I wanna get for the Trivers mecha: hero colors or the black decoes, though it probably ultimately doesn't matter much though if I go with hero colors the tedious challenge comes from trying to find a Trijeter D-Caliber with a properly aligned gun. DA-80 also has the extra retooling done to make it compatible to the Pod Grander so that's a plus in that direction.
For sure, and like myself, Spikey, and Rikomba was saying, we are gonna NEED something from the Waruder side to match the massiveness that will be Grand Dion and Cloud. The biggest thing we have Waruder wise are the Gigantors. Problem is they are going to be kicked around like annoying little yard gnomes once Robot base is in giant robot form. Waruders need something MONSTROUS and HUGE, doesnt even have to be as big, but that can give Grand Dion a fair fight. I say bring it on.
In fairness, Gigantor always felt to me like the updated Warudaros. The bugs-into-arms, partsforming from multiple monsters, and the head seem like clear homages. The Soldier head is right, sure, but Gigantor feels like it hits a few more design notes.
I agree completely. I have a few, between 2 DA-50s, and 75/76, and just using the ant arms by themselves to "swarm" a Diaclone position is dope looking. It definitely gives some homage to the Insecticon vibe, but with an excellent modern update. Plus being able to sit a Waruder fig on top in the "cockpit" is icing on the Waruder cake.
The MechaGodzilla you are thinking of is the 1994 version, although there wasn't a bullet core or anything. It was a totally seperate areospace fighter called Garuda that was modified to attach to MechaG's back to give him more power and to allow his systems to repair after Godzilla beat the crap out of him. Itonically, the original idea for that MechaG was inspired in part by Diaclone, as it was originally planned to have 3 separate vehicles that combined iinto him. They actually made a toy of it a couple years back, though its crap cos Bandai made the vehicles INCREDIBLY fragile. I had it, and it broke mere minutes after opening the box. I glued them together into Mecha G and gave it to a friend. Big ole waste of 200 bucks.
Argo definitely pulls off some Gundam vibes. It's like a fusion of the Pisces and the RAG 79 Aqua GM from Unicorn.
Always amused me how a lot of the aquatic gundams from various series over the years always had the head with some type of scuba mouth piece. Yes some of them look cool, but the robot doesn't need to breath, the cockpits on gundam weren't even in the head, they mostly just severed as a camera.
Yes, DA-50 and DA-75/76 were "modern" (or in timeline "future") Warudaros. That was its name on packaging and the site.
Yeah, here's the comparison of tread with hawk. It's suprisingly inconsistent in photos, but I'm glad to hear the accessory pack WILL match the blue grey version
Seeing pics of Hawk with its "backpack" weapons open up and deployed, I'm trying to figure out what exactly the "weapon" is there? Like is it either supposed to be some type of rail gun, or are the boosters doubling as some type of missile? If you fire those as missiles than you loose your propulsion which might be pretty important if your flying in gravity and need a means to control your craft.
The boosters/fuel tanks are missiles. The big one seems to be a tactical nuke according to it’s product page.
