Great, now the government is going to shut him down at the border because he doesn't meet our new emissions standards...

Being cut off from the US market should not end this thing. Again, core market is Japan. Exports to other Asian countries is good, US market is just the cherry on top.

I certainly hope Takara sends Phillip Morris a nice fruit basket and a thank you card when it's all said and done. Takara needs to get someone to ban Ultra Magnus and then no one will care about him being too tall or lacking a core white prime anymore.

No, this will hurt Takara. It has cut off a whole bunch of their sales. There's nothing to suggest that Asian stores will suddenly order more to make up the difference.

I wouldn't be surprised if far more Japanese MPs are exported to the US than stay in Japan. The question is are these places that had to cancel orders able cancel their orders impacting Takara or are the stores stuck with stock they can't sell in the US. If it's a case of half or more of the orders from Takara are canceled I could see the product being canceled. It all comes down to how profitable it is.

They probably won't, but there's always going to be some enterprising people in the States that's going to find a way to bring this here. Heck some may pop up in the boards.

Yeah, but nowhere near enough to make up for BBTS and TFSource.

I mean, Takara isn't going to take a bath on it or anything. The U.S. market is secondary to them. But they are definitely going to sell less, or at least sell through their stock a lot slower.

So I as an American can't buy Exhaust from Takara. But someone who can, will, and then will sell it to me. Takara still gets their money, whether they sold to me or to that other guy. So how does Takara lose out in sales?

I've emailed rk twice now about this and no response. I would like to know if mine are getting cancelled or not. Wouldn't mind my money back at this point if it's getting cancelled.

Takara will sell them just fine to distributors - it's the distributors who will take the hit, since the next step in the chain after them - BBTS et al - are now unable to purchase from them.

What might happen is the next time something like Exhaust were to come along with potential US marketing implications - say for example a Jazz or a Mirage, if their licensing details were unaltered so said Martini or Citanes - then the distributors might order less, and that might then hurt the availability of certain items.

One other thing is for certain - don't expect Exhaust to get a second run. Same scenario as I mention - there won't be as much distributor demand for a second run.

This does make me a little more uneasy about Jazz/Mirage.

Tell me about it ! I emailed them the exact same question . Chances are if it gets cancelled , I'll go the eBay route. Yup , I'm already planning on taking the markup hit that this guy will probably reach. The trick will be , keep your eyes open , grab him asap before the price sky rockets

Jazz and Mirage won't have this problem. Their sponsorship markings can be changed without affecting the overall deco of the vehicle, it's been done before for those characters.
