I have both but haven't been inspired to open up the TT version yet. I like the black forearms on the Hasbro version, and he stands okay, so I'm not sure I'm bothered about owning 2 of the figure so he may go onto Ebay. I think fans of the character are well served by either, I'm just not sure the TT version is worth paying twice the price of the US version.
The differences are subtle for robotmode ( the chest is also more accurate to G1 for Takara Mindwipe btw ). Altmode is where the differences become more apparent.
Takara Legends is cartoon accurate. Hasbro is G1 toy accurate. With that said, I LOVE the Hasbro version of Mindwipe. But, the Takara version did what didn't seem possible. It made me love the mold even more. The Takara paint scheme is just amazing in person. And even though the Hasbro version has a really nice headsculpt, I like the Takara headmaster even better.
That's what he said. Nice review. I actually have the figure myself. But sometimes, if I like a figure very much, I watch at it online when I'm at work and can't watch it at home
Not really. toy accurate would have been Takara's version with Hasbro's head and black fists for robotmode and brown wings with the first panel black and the second panel the color of the botarms and the speakers tampoed in the middle of the panel for batmode. What Hasbro did here is a completely original colourscheme, as has been the case with most of their versions. Hasbro rarely does straight updates of G1 decoes like they did with the classics and universe toys anymore.
Just throwing this out there, my Takara Mindwipe's headmaster is difficult to remove once plugged in. Anyone else have a similar issue? I only ask because my Fort Max. Cerebros can unplug without much force.
Man, you couldn't have said it better! I am in awe over how much I'm loving a figure that I've essentially owned for months now....this TT paint job has made it pop in such an all new and exciting way!
Resurrecting this thread to say that my LG Mindwipe's wing tip hinges have completely disintegrated. Rubber and plastic are not a good match when hinges are involved. I picked Mindwipe up yesterday and the rubber wing tips just fell right off, with pieces of hinge coming with them. I fear this mold is a ticking time bomb due to the design and the materials used. Had the wing tips been regular plastic I'm sure they wouldn't have broken off.
I can't believe it's nearly 6 years since I got this and all the other Takara headmasters that came out at the time. Even though I picked up the recent retro mindwipe I still love this. Great presentation. Great colors. Love him.
This happened to my Takara one with one of the tips a few months ago when I took him out of the box and started to transform the figure after being in storage in a dark cabinet for like a couple of years. I was able to glue it back together with super glue, transforms fine, and you can’t really tell it was ever broken unless you look closely. After that, I put the figure in a air tight freezer bag instead of back in the box (I also keep my X-collaborative Draculus stored the same if I am not playing with it). I’m guessing the dry air and not “stretching it’s legs” once in a while made the already shitty material brittle and stiff. I also have GDO Megatron, ROTF Bludgeon, and Hunt for Decepticons Banzaitron, and the rubber treads on those are fine when I checked them last summer after seeing the tfw thread about melting rubber. I’ve had those figures since they were first released, but they’ve been stored in tank mode, air tight freezer bags, in a plastic tote, out of sunlight for like 10+ years and no problem.
