YouTube - Transformers ROTF Breakaway Head Fix + Leader Class Optimus Prime Takara and Hasbro Comparisons
I've just posted up a video update demonstrating the Breakaway head fix and something we haven't really seen before, a side by side comparison between Takara and Hasbro's Leader Class Optimus Primes. There are differences here that no one has pointed out before, so I hope this is news. Hit 05:52 for the comparison.

Not a ton of difference between the 2.

Anyway - I prefer to just take out the cabin glass from breakaway and store it behind his head it allows for a better pose of his head than even the mod does. and it's reversable. (just unscrew the cabin's nose and leave the screw out).

 

yea not a lot, not like the premium prime vs convoy differences, that's for sure lol!

not even worth getting the takara one, in my opinion *Unless you are closer to japan, or have the japanese ones in your country too* of course!  

but i do agree the gray does look better then the red, but it's no big deal.  

 

I think I prefer the Hasbro version. The mold has too much grey as it is, and I think the slightly translucent smokestacks look more metallic(though it may be different in person).

But What does the Takara version say? Europe Optimus just says "Optimus Prime", without the "I am" of the US version.

 

The grey smokestacks actually give him a more solid look, and he actually says "I am Optimus Prime", no difference there.

 

I had to literally skip almost to the end just to see how to fix breakaway's head(thank god I don't actually have to cut anything btw).

Not to mention to see the most subtle differences between takara and hasbro leader primes. (i can make it so ya don't have to watch the vid at all in terms of what's up w/ prime.

Takara: "SOLID GREY RUBBER SMOKESTACKS, GREY CENTER CHEST AREA".

Hasbro: "SEMI-TRANSPARENT GREY RUBBERSMOKESTACKS, RED CENTER CHEST AREA".

(That took all of about 2 seconds or so to read eh, lol)

try to do less talking and skip some steps on breakaway most folks already know how to transform him, we just wanna get to the main steps of fixing the head.  

Hopefully, I didn't come off as sounding too straight forward if so I apologize. Thanks for the vid man, it was actually pretty helpful just a bit dragged out.  

 

You know, there's a link in the video description to skip straight away to Prime's differences.

Also, the video is long and 'talkative' because he is informing you about the necessary steps. Like you said: 'skips some steps on breakaway most folks already know" what about the other folks who don't know ? At least he took his time to record the video to inform people about what to do.

I don't think he's trying to insult him and we're glad he took the time to show us the differences as well as a way to make breakaway move his head. However, some prep would have been much more useful and he could have trimmed a lot of fat in the video. He didn't need to show us how to get to the point where we see the screws. He could have started with the figure already in place and we would have known how to get the figure to that point. You raise a valid point that he tells us where to go...but people outside of these forums aren't gonna know that and in my time on youtube...i can tell you, most people dont' read description boxes haha

that was exactly what I was trying to convey, and even the man who posted the vid didn't get mad.

nothing wrong with feedback it's what helps folks evolve and progress.

Thanks for the vid! I'm glad Breakaway can be fixed easily. I'm too clumsy to trim/cut/sand toys... I was not going to buy him, but I was surprised last week when I realized ROTF toys were already here in Peru. I had to buy some!!!

Regarding OP. Any differences in the red or blue tones? In the video, the blue on the Takara one looked a bit brighter, but I guess it was just the light bulb being closer... What about the plastic/joints quality? I always have the impression that the Japanese ones have better quality.
