DaimChoc Reports - ダイムチョック・リポーツ
Nice, but I feel like Shark Boy's foot is not right...
The more recent pics show the white plastic being different.
"Do it. Preorder the set today. You'll regret otherwise"
I've decided to not get this set. I have no real attachment to the character and I am fine just having King Poseidon, since he's the one I remember as a kid. Plus if this one is just as floppy as the regular Seacons I don't want to be disappointed again. lol
That's not just the Seacons but long-standing design issues going back to Combiner Wars line: combiner pegs that can't support the weight and deluxe figure hips and knees that can't support weight either. Volcanicus was probably the worst one.
God Neptune won't have the disappointment of using Targetmaster mode at least, which was no way doable outside of using it as a cane.
I can think of ways to strengthen the combiner port but not sure if I want to do it 5 times.
Last day for Pulse pre-order:
Transformers Takara Tomy Generations Selects TT-GS10 God Neptune (Hasb – Hasbro Pulse
I’m amazed nobody came up with replacement parts to get some actual tension in the Combiner joints. I can’t think of a single one I got through the entirety of CW that could bend its knees and not collapse.
Just an FYI so people can't say we didn't warn them....the preorder window for God Neptune closes today.
Click HERE to pre-order or forever hold your peace.
I think with CW the stability problems came from the lack of ankle joints.
No, that had very little to do with it. If anything, restricted feet movement helped. The 3rd party feet didn't fix stability issues and actually created their own set of balance issues (they typically had no ratchets as well as oversized pegs that may stress the ports on the figures). The new feet with the Seacons do have forward and backward rotation but on very tight ratchets. The side to side rotation seems ok on their own but are floppy when supporting all 5/6 figures.
The combiner pegs also seem ok on their own but are too floppy with weight applied. They're the worst as knees as they clearly cannot support the weight of a voyager, 2/3 deluxes, and various accessories.
Shoulder milage varies but not as bad. Depending on accessories, the shoulders may also droop (outward and forward/back rotation). King P can handle the trident weight ok but not a whole bot as Targetmaster. Gulf is actually the heaviest of the Deluxe Seacons, so should be avoided as a Targetmaster altogether.
Standing straight up provides the best stability for very basic posing.
I've taken apart the combiner peg before. There's 2 chambers with springs for the different axes. There are multiple potential areas to add friction. I can see areas to add vinyl tape as a reversible method. Floor polish would be a disaster and not help at all. Stronger springs are also another possibility, although I don't happen to randomly carry extra springs around. Making the combiner peg too tight may stress the surrounding plastic, however.
The blue thighs really accentuate the "stick figure" legs
Still, I think I actually like the cohesion this one has over the Seacons.
Got my "on-shelf" pose. Thaaaank you!
May who ever gets this enjoy it. I have tried but it just wasn't meant for me. Please if you want this and can afford it go ahead and get it
now watch them in a week or two now the preorder is closed announce a white lobster
Why didn't you perorder it, then save up the money for when it comes out in October(?)?
Why not? The people who want God Neptune want him for God Neptune. Adding a white lobster as part of the bundle bumps up the price for a character who didn't exist until earlier this month. That risks driving away fans who desire accuracy but doesn't really draw any new fans to offset that. Nobody bought GN assuming Lovehammer was coming. And I would wager nobody declined GN because they didn't know if a Lovehammer was coming.
So you get the best of both worlds: People who want GN, and just GN, get him. And people who want Lovehammer could potentially get him separately down the road. And if we never get him, that's fine...because we understand he's a curiosity in the Selects universe and demand may not be enough to justify a production run.
Because even if Takara announced him tomorrow, the first confirmation of "Lovehammer" was in the Selects comic released on June 2. That's about two weeks for people to factor it in to their decision on GN.
If we get the final member in God Neptune colors I'm completely there for it.
Damnit! Why didn't you send me a PM? Lazy bum.
Same here as long as it doesn't come out until some time after October. I need some breathing room after God Neptune.
