single greatest panel in any tf comic. The cuts are deep and I fudging love them.
The main perk is that you sometimes get first dips when it comes to pre-orders on new items.
Eh, why is the Takara comic using the Cyberverse design for Shockwave?
That sounds good
Because they're using every design for Shockwave.
Cool. Didn't know that.
Always liked the comics included, mainly for some of the OTT artwork.
I mean, aside from the obvious difference (Takara markets TFs more as a collector line while Hasbro has to sell toys at retail to kids) Takara is the company that's given us three MP Primes, two Bees, a pair of Megatrons, etc...
Also, you're focusing too much on Generations. Hasbro's using that as a de-facto collectors line...so they've gotta mix in what sells to kids to what sells to "our" portion of the fan base.
But outside of that:
- Cyberverse has Rack' n Ruin, Cheetor, Sky Byte, Shadow Striker, Alpha Trion, Wild Wheel, etc.
- They've been running a successful Rescue Bots line for YEARS that is centered entirely on new characters with guys like Hot Shot/Bee/Optimus mixed in to help younger kids transition to the other lines.
- RiD introduced Strongarm, Windblade has become a mainstay, and the animated series have helped pull Arcee in to the mainstream. We've also got Lockdown and Bulkhead who transitioned from Animated to other series/films. Hell, part of the reason Bee has become such a presence is precisely because of the films.
Hasbro is doing a great job of introducing new characters (and elevating previously obscure ones), the problem is you get to Generations and you've got our corner of the market too resistant to change. For as long as Rescue Bots have been around, I'm genuinely surprised Hasbro hasn't made Generations figures of guys like Heatwave, Chase, etc....especially when there's no shortage of fire trucks and police cars to use as a base. The only one I can think of is Rescue Bots Mirage getting a figure in the 2015 RiD line.
But I do wonder if part of it is that this corner of the fanbase has gotten it's head so far up it's ass about G1 that they're reluctant to mix in stuff from a "kiddie show." Hell, look at the overreaction to Prime having grey fists. It's not Hasbro who is demanding G1...it's buyers.
(Of course, there also could be a conscious effort to separate the combat part of Tansformers from the rescue theme for younger kids...so they don't want the Rescue Bots running around with guns and missiles.)
Are these comics just an excuse for Hayato to just draw every Transformers toy ever?
God I hope so
Not all of them, but a good selection. Cyberverse, Prime, Animated and Cloud Shockwave make an appearance, but no Movie or G1/WFC. I guess you can only fit so many Shockwaves in a single panel. Still very cool though.
Any chance the set will come with a green Matrix? That would be cool.
SSS Gridman reference?
Damn, I had no interest in the original release for this, but I really like this coloring...hmmmm but so much money...
I'm thinking the God Neptune box set is going to come with a whole load of extra weapons and matrix accessories... Based on the final panels of the comic book.
The scene references SSSS Gridman whose main villain is modelled after Shattered Glass Optimus. She makes model monsters and an alien living in her computer brings them to life. His voice actor also plays Shockwave in Cyberverse. Hence, Sakamoto swings it round by referencing Gridman.
Jontron is a combiner now? He merges with his parrot Jacques?
I take it you meant the Jointrons, but they would need to be brand new molds. I doubt that'll happen anytime soon, Takara only remolds stuff, not make new molds. Maybe once Hasbro starts doing a new toyline based on Beast Wars, we can have a new Magnaboss/Tripredacus and their repaints.
I never did.
But the thing about God Neptune's plastic color is that it looks...milky and unfinished. It's like they were painting the toys, but they ran out of silver or cream paint, so they thought "eh, maybe no one will notice."
I got half a mind to believe that if someone painted the white parts on GN (and Apeface) with silver, it'd look vastly better.
Does anyone know if Hasbro Pulse Charges on preorders or no? Like when do they charge involving preorders from those that have dealt with it
