UPDATE! I'm probably done now. (with this one, I may do a second non transforming more screen accurate version) The big change since the original post is pin striping added to the shoulders. I added some very minor details to the arm guards as well. If you aren't especially familiar with Takara's new reissue of Battle Blades BB, it may not look like I've done much here. They provided a great, but incomplete paintjob and I've done my best to finish it. I always wanted to paint the original battle blades, but didn't feel up to trying to get his pinstriping right. Takara's version has painted the car gold and done that for me. They left most of the bot parts yellow plastic though. I've gone ahead and painted pretty much everything gold or gun metal. Things I painted: -Behind his head/shoulder area (was yellow) -Helmet -Thighs/biceps (both were dark grey plastic) -shoulders -arms gaurds -knees (were yellow plastic) -feet (yellow plastic) -shoulder wheel things (yellow -fingers I was also struck by just how much he seems like he belongs with the MP cars between the complexity, similar size and paint. So I took a couple of him with Prowl.
Good job so far. Battle Blades Bumblebee is quite honestly the greatest representation of Movie Bumblebee there is. No other mold prior to or since can touch it.
Thank you! I generally agree. I still think the 2007 concept camero (preferably the premium version) is the closest they ever got to nailing his body. Battle Blades sculpt is definitely better though. After I painted High Octane BB, I was shocked at how good the sculpt and design on him actually are. Out of the box the paint is a horrible joke and he's criminally short. But he's actually pretty great (with paint).
