I'm guessing that he'll have the energon swords he used for one second and Megatron's shotgun. The retools could be Buster Prime styled and maybe turn his backpack into a battle station or something else contrived.

AD-31 is also listed as "Silver Knight Optimus" in the order sheet hanypa mentioned over the weekend. Probably has the more movie accurate knight armor on the forearms(shown on the movie posters) and when

The only other optimus with that forearm armor is the Lost Age Battle Command Optimus. I think this new figure will probably have a more movie accurate blue/red/silver paint scheme but also the shotgun he used when breaking into the KSI building. Also maybe the arm sword used when fighting Galvatron.

I hope it is as exactly as I described it. Wouldn't mind if Hasbro brings it over and gets some silver on it. I liked the way prime looked in the last battle

 

Just another reminder they want to screw us over as many times as they can by releasing the same character in the same mold with as few changes as possible, if not out right making them with serious deco flaws in the first releases. Seems Unique toys has learned well from Hasbro.

Anyone else remember when repaints were more often than not, new characters with their own stories or at the very least the same character with full alternate decos, not the same character with a few minor tweaks?

Interesting. This mold is surprisingly good in my opinion. Initially my reaction was like a lot of people (still a big backpack but at least it looks better than that first edition version). But, after getting in my hands it really is a good and fun toy. One of those that you appreciate more once you have it in your hands. So we shall see what comes of this.

 

yeah totally agree! Takatomy set the high bar with the excellent ROTF Leader Prime mould, and now they have to try and hopefully make a screen-accurate Silver Knight Optimus to keep the tradition of wonderful representations from the movies. Initially dissapointed with the first AOE Prime mould, but thank goodness I didnt buy any and waited.  

 

I was gonna wait until we got a leader that is of the same quality the RotF leader OP, but I may cave if this looks good enough. Still, a Masterpiece-quality figure - like Buster OP - using this design would be great.

 

And I just bought an AD-01 a few days ago lol.

Oh well, no biggie. There will probably be 5 alternative edits of this mold over the next few years if ROTF leader Prime's example is followed.

...and then there will be a new mold for TF5.

I doubt they'd be doing an entirely new mold for the figure. Maybe Takara will make some minor adjustments to reduce the back kibble in robot mode. The current Takara Leader Prime already have better painted chest details compared to Hasbro's, so maybe they will just refine those details in other areas on robot mode as well. Hoping for added pinstripes on the flames as well and better paint apps on both the truck and robot mode. Either way, it will still be a shellformer. No major improvements unless they are doing it for TF 5...

 

i'll be very annoyed with hasbro if they bring it over.. this is something that should be in the platinum set with grimlock.. not some stupid piece of junk translucent plastic prime.. that makes no sense.

i HIGHLY doubt they're going to do anything to the back kibble..

i'm calling it now.. they're probably going to remold the chest.. and possibly the forearms.. otherwise, it'll probably be the same figure.

The mold, while flawed due to the backpack, mainly, has a lot of promise and most of that can be obtained via paint. You go, Takara, you go.
