I wonder why Italy got so many Taiwanese knockoffs. Hell, even Gig imported a Taiwanese knockoff Shockwave at one point.

i sold my loose set for 160, so the 200 sounds abit right. ive had both sets, and really, i cant tell the difference in quality at all.

I dig it's name - "Biological Chemistry Dinosaur Corps" has a slightly better ring than the plain "Dinoking". Pesonally, I wouldn't $200 on the set, but I'd easily do $15. :)

well the highest bidder spent around 300 for a KO battle gea giftset. i think maybe he's crazy enough to blow this auction up.

damn damon, you sold the real or fake loose set for $160? did it have all the little guns?

MG, taiwan has been at feud w/ china since sun yat-sen founded the country. if they ever remove "ROC/ republic of china" from their name they will basically be declaring war with china.

In an effort to gain more support for their country if china ever decides to forcefully take it back, taiwan traded heavily and did a lot of charity work in other nations such as africa and brazil....in the 80s they had a really high interest in the EU and set up a lot of discounted imports for things like shoes and clothes...in the mid 80s the EU ended up as taiwan's 3rd largest export nation behind the US and Japan.

I think most major countries in europe got a good flow of taiwan fakes but italy has a knack for being a treasure trove of old toys for those willing to explore stadium shops and old railway stands.

back to the dinoking fake, man i really hope i didn't contribute to the auction going up so much, i can't believe somebody would pay $300 for a fake battle gaea in the wrong colors and a box that's nowhere near the original.

the taiwan dinoking is pretty close but there are color differences with the real thing, you can see the most obvious ones on the dino shell.

    the real one from seibertron:

fake taiwan one; color differences on every one of the shells....goryu (trex) is a much more saturated shade of green on the taiwan one compared to the darker godzilla-like color of the real one:

I know dude, But you cant even tell the difference and if someone wants one it is a lot cheaper then even a real one as they have been very hard to find real or KO over the last few years as a set.

Sure the real deal costs a fortune, and the KO looks like the real deal, but that doesn't change the fact that, ultimately, it's still just a counterfeit.

I think it all depends on the person. Some don't mind KO/counterfeits and some do. Imo, if there is a wide price difference then I will at least look at the fake stuff. I'm perfectly happy with my KO battle gial which I only paid $50 for instead of the over $500 for a real set. And if the quality is the same for fake and with the real, then I'll go for the fake. I have a real Guard City which the quality is the same as a KO.

I've got this set. got it for $70 shipped from 365day or something like that on the bay. then about a year or two ago, aloysha had a set of the mini black guns on ebay (how he got the originals to do those I'll never know), which I got for less than $25. so all in all, complete (unofficial) dinoking, which I painted to be more accurate, for less than $100. not bad, eh?

the fake set doesn't match the real one though?

the colors are off...it's not just the shells, even the dinoking combiner has a different shade of blue.

red leader, these were also released individually in "dinosaur corps" boxes. this individual KO set came in different color variations. I only have two, but i'm sure all of them were released back in the day.

you can see the color differences on rairyu (bronto.) with this individually packed fake and the biological and real release:
