Sword of the Primes - Star Saber - Oct 24 UPDATE LDM's Celestial Sword - TFP: Star Saber --- UPDATE NOV 7/12 --- Finally... BUY TF PRIME - CELESTIAL SWORD This is a completely show accurate weapon for TF Prime Voyager Optimus Prime. This is the legendary Star Saber, featured in season 2 of TF Prime. Wield the power of the Primes with a weapon that towers over Optimus himself! The sword and handle separate and will fit into the 5mm hands of any Transformer. The blade measures 186 mm in length and is an imposing sight for any Decepticon. This model has been successfully tested in WSF and FUD! --- UPDATE OCT 24/12 --- Second pair of prototypes received. Almost perfect! The handle (which plugs into the rest of the sword, was to tight, so I had to sand it down. The final version will have this corrected. Some of the engraving I will make a little deeper and then it will be good to go. Currently the sword it almost 18cm. --- UPDATE OCT 16/12 --- Prototype arrived. I am very impressed with how detailed they were able to print it. As this is my first model, I had no idea. Now that I have the prototype I can see that the gold details are far too small, and will need to be exaggerated. The blade also has issues with tight corners, so I will adjust the angels. The hilt section of the sword came out nicely, but the prong (which printed just fine) should be bumped up by 100%. Seems alot of details got smaller as they were printed. Over all the length is good, I will just scale/clean things up that wont print. The turn around was 8 days for this prototype, so If i can fix the model, I hope for v.2 by end of next week. More photos to follow after work with Optimus. --- UPDATE OCT 5/12 --- Model is complete. Now being fixed for printing. Having a manifold error between some edges. Hoping I can fix it! --- UPDATE OCT 3/12 --- Hit my first snag. Trying to make this accurate means that some parts are not the minimum thickness to be printed in 3d. The gold details should be approx. 0.3mm (for a 15cm sword) unfortuntaly they need to be at least 0.7mm to print. Which means adding the 2 blades + 2x gold details are getting thicker, which means the hilt has to get thicker so they can all go into it. Gold detail - 0.7mm Blade - 1.5mm (originally was 1mm but too thin for 12cm blade) Blade - 1.5mm (originally was 1mm but too thin for 12cm blade) Gold detail - 0.7mm Total = 4.4mm (the handle is 5mm)
That is my ultimate goal! I am trying to make it as accurate as possible! But bear with me, I will be my first time doing this (3d printing not modelling)
Thank you! though from some of the screen shots I am beginning to wonder if they scale it is some scenes.
Real nice, ya got a definite order with me. Though 3 questions, 2of them serious Backpacks to hold the blades that can go with FE Prime and RID Megs? Darkstar Saber? Broken Star Saber?
Thanks. I am excited to finish it and see how the prototype turns out. I'm still building it, but can already see where things will need to adjust so the toy can hold it. As this is the first weapon I am making, we'll have to see if I can pull off a backback. (I don't think we actually saw how ratchet made one). Darkstar might be a little complex with all the random forms, but a broken Star Saber should be easy.
Yeah I think we just skipped to seeing Prime have it, and looks like Knock Out made one for Megs since they both had their blades on their back.
