Thinking back, it's usually just a bomb or handheld weapons that tend to make planets 'asplode.

A bomb was used to destroy Paradon (a decoy ship took out on its moons). Bombs were used to destroy Cybertron in Headmasters. Handheld weapons were used in Zone, IIRC.

    Mostly just bombs...

Given the gravitational effects of bringing it into Earth orbit, they've used their own planet as a super weapon on at least three occasions (Ultimate Doom, DotM and TLK).

RID2015 also had the seismic shock warhead, and if we're counting other factions, the Vok had their planet buster disguised as a moon.

In IDW during the Unicron finale the Decepticon Vengeance Division included Warworlds, Worldburners and Worldsweepers all of which, according to Starscream had enough power to individually destroy a dozen planets. The Worldburners, of course, are the same design as Megatron's Decepticon flagship the Nemesis... This could retroactively insinuate that the Nemesis and possibly the Ark line are world-killers. This wouldn't be too out there since in the original Marvel story the Autobots used the Ark's arsenal alongside their own to destroy an asteroid field capable of destroying much of a Saturn-sized Cybertron. So there's that.

The Underbase from Marvel G1 had enough power within it for someone to pretty much rule the universe as they saw fit.

Most massive ships and macguffins are world-killers or worse, especially matrix-related ones.

Transformers are a bit different as a franchise in that they don't need devastating weapons, they are devastating weapons.

From Galvatron who can blow up planetoids in one shot to the Alternity who can destroy moons on a missed swing of their swords. "Conventional" weapons are planet busters; planets die in the series without any super weapon needed. The Autobots used a single bomb to destroy Paradron rather then let the Decepticons have an energy rich planet. The Decepticon Headmasters blow up Mars just to try to get a good shot at killing Fortress Maximus in Headmasters. Decepticons detonate the planet Micro at the start of Zone, just to name a few. There's no shortage of planets dying because of the war in Transformers.

If you really want some tools that were terrible in their application, you've got the Star Harvester and the Solar Needle, both energy collectors that had the side effect of destabilizing the stars that they drew power from and would cause them to supernova and destroy the solar system they were deployed to.

However, they do have a super weapon of massive destruction, a Death Star of their own, Deathsaurus has the Planet-Destroying Fortress - Transformers Wiki the major plot point of Victory.

Galvatron destroyed the planet Trull in one blast in Five Faces of Death. He then also destroyed planet Goo later in Five Faces of Death.

Yep. Destroyed 1/4 of cybertron. If it was aimed at cybertron then....well RIP cybertron. Plus the moon is a also a base. It has the weapon Planet smasher. ( Cyberverse)Planet Smasher - Transformers Wiki

This means it makes most transformers weapons useless because we have planet destroying characters.
