Hey guys I've started to get more interested in American superhero comics lately and one comic I'd like to read is one where famous superheroes reveal their secret identities and who they are to the public. Not like a secret between a hero and his lover, but more like an open press conference type of reveal. Are there any comics with similar kind of stories made by Marvel or DC? I think I heard Marvel did something like this in the past but not sure which story it was. Also I wouldn't mind if it was something of a one-shot comic, a What-If, a Special, or just part of the main continuity of either companies.
"Charles" Xavier did it in New Xmen at the end of "e is for extinction". Cap did it in vol 4? Of his title. It the series written by reiber and drawn by cassaday. Great story very 9/11 influenced. Oh yeah, x men dazzler revealed her identity and the fact she was a mutant to public in the 80s. It backfired and mutant hysteria killed her career. These are harder issues to track since they happened in her solo which has never been collected in tpb I think. Edit: please don't spoil the Xavier reveal if the OP decides to read it.
While it's not the main focus, the classic Superman story "Whatever happened to the man of Tomorrow" features Clark Kent's identity being revealed to the world, and is basically supposed to be the final story of the silver age Superman. It shouldn't be too hard to find. It's had several trades over the years.
