They're going to milk the crap out of Amiibos.

I mean, they made an Amiibo out of a cereal box that was glorified Lucky Charms for Super Mario Odyssey.

 

I'd rather they not. Frankly, I prefer the various Pokemon to remain solo as the switching gimmick is frankly clunky and tedious and I didn't miss it at all. And they better NOT remove Lucario.

Hate to burst your bubble but the chances are there being no Amiibo for Smash Switch is a big, fat zero.

And this has been a pet peeve of mine for years but I really wish people would stop throwing in random third party characters into their roster speculation/wish lists.

I actually voted for Cloud for the fan vote when everyone thought it'd never happen.

 

I just want Duck Hunt to come back. They filled the trap/projectile/zoning void Snake's absence left me. The tin can has to be one of the funniest attacks I've seen in a video game.

Phoenix Wright would be nice too.

 

I would like to see Ice climbers back, personally.

anywho, i do have a few amiibo myself. the pokemon, toon link, megaman, and dedede. i think samus is still box...

i blame sonic and snake from brawl. they kind of opened the floodgates...

I just think it was a really bad hassle trying to get those figures for that particular game.

 

Seeing as how they updated the Switch to use the Wii U's Gamecube Controller accessory (which itself exists purely to use GC controllers on Smash Wii U) as being registered as a "third party controller", I wonder if they'll allow Smash Switch to do the same. I actually bothered to buy the only one I could find within 50 miles for the purposes of using it on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (never actually did lol), but it would be nice to have a reason to actually use it instead of an optional, not-entirely-really-necessary waste of $20.

 

I like how Villager was summoned to battle with a polite letter and the Inklings are summoned to some alternate hell where the sun is a giant Smash logo.

 

That's cause the others are afraid the inklings would splat them on sight!  

 

If Ryu from Street Fighter and Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII return as Veteran Fighters, I hope to see Chun-Li and Sephiroth as assist trophies!

 

I want Sephiroth so his resume can include both "being beaten by a boy with a key" and "Splatted by Squid Kids."

 

I did ask my EB games if they are doing preorders and they said they will go up soon.

 

Don't forget "eaten and digested by both a sentient pink blob and a chubby midget dinosaur", "electrocuted by an electric rat", and "Falcon Punched in the Face"

 

In full honesty it really only truly bugs me when people bring out these lists and not a single one of them (or perhaps maybe one or two out of ten) is a Nintendo character.

Anyway, legit question. With loads and loads of people being adamant about this game being a new game and not a port, how different does this game have to be from Smash 4 to be considered a new game? What I mean is would it still be considered a new game if it say used the Smash 4 engine and a lot of Smash 4 assets? I ask because I have a hard time believing that this game could be ready in three years unless it reused the Smash 4 engine and a lot of Smash 4's assets. But then, I'm not a game developer so I suppose I don't know.
