Get Ready for Super Monday Night Combat, a Very DotA Shooter That is Free to Play

I'm curious as to why every gaming publication has started throwing around 'DotA' recently as if everyone knows what it is.

I'd never even heard of it until I saw footage of DotA 2.

 

My friends and I recently got back into MNC because it's so fun, so i'm definitely looking forwards to this. However, not even once did I think of it to be a MOBA style game. I guess I can see where they're coming from, but it's still a pretty big stretch.

 

I can't believe you jagoffs aren't playing this game. It is incredi-cool.

I'll give this a shot, but for how bad I am at LoL.... i don't expect to do well
(no really, I average like 1-13... it'sa miracle I've never been banned for feeding yet)

 

Downloading it right now off of Steam. Loved the first one, hopefully this one is just as good.

 

Oh, it's free? I guess there's no harm in downloading it then.

 

It's a lot of fun, i've been playing it on and off for a week or two now. Really like the expanded class list.

I would have paid money for this, so it being free is just a bonus.

I might try it out. I'm hesitant to jump in as a Newbie based on some things I heard about lopsided teams in matchmaking

 

Is it entirely 100% free? Or free as in they let you download and play it for free, but you have to shell out some cash for access to the "good stuff"?

 

Sorta that. You can get all the good stuff eventually, if you play more and more, as you get in-game currency that can be used to unlock characters and perks. Every week 7 of the 15 characters are made free, and it changes every week. The perks you either find at random or buy.

So it's free to play, but to have the "best" character, you either have to play a lot or spend cash. I'm fine with not having the best possible character but playing for free, it's still a lot of fun.

 

The only times teams are lopsided is when someone quits. Otherwise you just need to man up and take your beatings, this isn't a game where one guy can carry a team, you work as one or you lose.

so having actually played a few rounds

Seems, faster than LoL, maybe it's due to less of a shop system, no gear to worry about, just go shoot things
It will take a LOT of games to earn things without using the cash-shop(about 200 coins per match)

Still, something I'll try working into my gaming time, as it is quite enjoyable, even if the announcers get kind of annoying

 

I paid money for Megabeth, earned enough to get Support and Combat Girl over a weekend.
