Is RED really only 1 main designer? I wonder why he strayed so far from the Sunbow designs with Bumblebee and Starscream.

Emiliano's main love is He-Man. I don't know that he had any real interest in Transformers before he began working on the brand, initially for IDW (it's likely he was at least aware of it, being of that age group, despite being from Italy, iirc, though I may be misremembering his location), so he may not feel particularly beholden to the Sunbow designs.

    Just spitballing here.

If you're making non-transformable transformers, then make them Jumbo Machinder Shogun Warriors style and SIZE.

    Or don't.

I dunno, pretty sure that's true of Generations Selects or the other exclusives too since they are not sold in stores, just listed on HasbroPulse/Amazon/etc, yet they cost the same amount.
The whole thing frankly seems more like they are doing a kickstarter, reminds me of Mythic Legions or Boss Fight Studio's stuff, where you often have to preorder a year in advance. But even those cost far less.
I frankly feel Hasbro will do a proper transforming Banzai-Tron eventually even if just as a repaint, after all, they did Krok... And they own the name, they have made several repaints of him from Bludgeon and others. Only one I feel the need to maybe get is Pretender Bludgeon, because that's a thing Hasbro is unlikely to ever do. And saves me the trouble to customize one from the 2002 MOTU Samurai Skeletor, heh.

I’ve held the R.E.D. figures in my hands at Walmart and passed on them. I’m much more excited about this line now, despite the price.

Iunno, if Super7 Ultimates stuff is produced in similar quantity to another vaguely similarly-targeted collector line, like, say, Mezco One:12 Collective, that means they range from ~3000-12,000 units for non-limited edition stuff. I'm willing to bet Generations Selects is probably produced in quantities of at least high 10s of thousands per figure; it's gotta be that high for them not to charge BotCon/TFCC prices, just from a production cost standpoint. In addition, somewhat exclusive as they are, their availability is still more in the range of mainline Hasbro stuff than something like Mezco.

That prototype looks good. Depending on the final look, this might replace my EX Gokin Prime.

I know Emiliano had done the box art for Ectotron and Gigawatt, I read that the designs were supposed to be G1 animated and suppliedcas such, which makes Starscream and Bumblebee looking different additionally weird.

The difference between these and Selects is that these will require new molds (which are a large part of the cost for producing things like this), whereas Selects are all recolors using existing molds that also had a wider retail release.

With respect, please reread my post again, as my post addresses the timeline before yours, and his interests leading up to his time on Transformers.

I read it but he was a fan before doing official work. That’s how he got his job making official art. His fan art of transformers was discovered by the right people.

he’s allowed to be an avid fan of both. No one is forcing him to do anything

Thanks for everyone responding to my question and hope the S7 designs do kickass as well as the accessories.
Personally now I want to see the final product but the price point is a tad high for me on a non-Transforming figure.
But those S7 ThunderCats do look badass so Transformers Line should be in good hands and that might be something to look forward to for collectors.

Meh. R.E.D. will do, at a fraction of the price.

Apologies if this has been addressed already, but in all the discussion of articulation of the figures themselves, have we seen anything of Banzai-Tron's Action Master partner Razor-Sharp? Specifically, I want assurances that he can, indeed, attach to Banzai-Tron's hand weapon and become an absurdly long combined hand-weapon.

Nothing yet. I’m certainly hoping for that to be the case.

But can I put prime in that spinny, flip pose from the beginning of the 86 movie?
