Here's the finished product of my Earthrise Sunstreaker, bot mode is inspired by the dreamwave art. Added a less bright , richer yellow, black, and silver throughout.

Adding the black is a great way to balance the figure.

Absolutely beautiful. The richer yellow and the contrasting black really bring this figure to life.

    The deeper yellow really helped.

Looks fantastic. This is pretty much as good as the mold can look with paint alone, I think.

This looks sooooooo much better. I found this figure pretty unappealing with the default deco. this really brings out the style. :thumb

Any tips on if I'm thinking about trying something like this myself? I'd want to paint pretty much everything except for joint surfaces that rub against each other, not just the vehicle mode parts. I only have experience painting smaller details on figures, so how durable is an all-over paint job like this? Would it be highly prone to chipping if I take my figures down and fiddle with them every now and then?

For what it's worth, I painted just the vehicle mode surfaces on my Sunstreaker and it came out great except for one spot where the masking tape spilled over onto what I wanted to paint. The two-tone effect in robot mode is neater than it sounds.

But functionally, you're going to need to mask the everloving shit out of everything regardless of how you proceed.

Dreamwave Sunstreaker was the best version of the character.

First time Transformers media made me laugh was his comment about Bumper in the ongoing Dreamwave comic.

    Jazz: "What kept you?"
Sunstreaker: "Sorry, had to wipe Bumper's tailpipe!"
