The theme for Botcon this year is Pirates vs Knights and there may be some hint of something like that in AOE.

The Dinobots as far as we've seen in robot mode of toys has a Knight theme going for them while Lockdown a free agent bounty hunter has a hook. Hooks are associated with pirates usually.

It's not very blatant but very subtle in execution.

 

Well... Optimus is pretty much a Paladin know.
Plua Drift is a Ninja/Samuria...

So we have Knights and Ninja/Samuria Vs Space Pirates/Bounty Hunters.

Give Lockdown a eyepatch and he'll be set to go for the movie.

 

You are going to need more evidence of a pirate theme than one character with a hook. Especially when Lockdown's hook is more the size of a sickle than a hook hand.

 

There's a boxing move called a right hook.

Must have to do with pirates.

Knights, I can see that but not pirate unless there's another robot we haven't seen.

 

Lockdown also has a ship.

That's vaguely pirate-ish.

   

 

Well, Lockdown is a Bounty Hunter.

Pirates are in search of money, At anyway possible...

So the differance is not that large.

Ha! actually the way LD strings up OP when he's captured is similar to the way you'd hang up a large fish after catching it me thinks

I do a specific job for monetary compensation. I guess I am basically a pirate also.

 

The big difference between bounty hunters and pirates is this. Pirates preys on the weak while Bounty Hunters their prey can possibly shoot back at them.

Their similarity is that they are hunters.

 

So KSI preys on weak Autobots and steals their parts for their own needs, sounds like a pirate to me...

 

This. People seem to forget that Lockdown is not the movies only villian.

KSI is a large, pirate-esque threat also.

 

Bees new bot mode looks just like Stingers. Maybe hes a PIRATED copy.  

 

I never thought of that in all honesty. That's pretty clever of FunPub and Bay to share a somewhat similar theme.

He may not have an eye patch, but i have noticed a scar over his left eye.

I think it's safe to assume, all characters in this film are based off something, i'd go so far as saying Galvatron could be inspired by Frankenstein seen as though he is probably built using many different parts (Decepticon and probably Autobot) including Megs and Sentinal if the rumour is to be believed.

So a Pirate isn't so far a stretch, he does have a ship, and the wolves, if they have any level of sentience, could easily be his crew.

EDIT: just realised Something....

If every character in this film is based of something...this could further confirm Leadfoot.

Think about it, all the characters that we know have been killed off (Sideswipe, Ratchet (probably) Dino etc) aren't based off anything, or if they are it's very vague.

Leadfoot is based of a Nascar fan, Brains is kind of like a mini Que, aka Albert Einstein, or someone similar. It's a long shot i know but it makes sense!
