Ok we've seen the ones where they serve the nasty pasta to people and they think it is real Italian eatery food. But the one I saw tonight takes that barely semi plausible idea and makes it complete B.S. They blindfold a family and walk them out of their house, Drive them around (off camera), secretly take them back home (through the front door) and serve them the pasta in their own kitchen/dining room. They think they are in a fancy Italian restaurant. They remove the blindfold to be *Shocked!!* that they are at their own table eating pasta from Pizza Hut. Yeah right. You can drive me around blindfolded and then pull up at home. I'm fairly certain I'd be able to figure out I'm back at home just from knowing the terrain. Then you walk my into my own home and to the table I eat at all the time. I'd know the layout of my house well enough to go "Hmm this feels like the route to my table" then to sit in my chair I always sit in? Again I'd know my own chair. Last thing I'd think is "This must be some fancy Italian place!" I never trusted these commercials but this one I had to call out for utter bullshit stupidity. Either these people are actors (bad ones) or the stupidest family on the planet who can't recognize they are eating in their own home.
They are actors playing the stupidest family on the planet. I'd know I was in my own home just from the sounds and smells. But this is a television commercial, so trying to tie it into reality is an exercise in futility. Television commercials drive me so crazy that I have to actually turn the television off for a few minutes when they're on. Sometimes I miss bits of programs, but it's well worth not having to witness another Italian grandfather from the old country thinking Olive Garden's canned pasta is better than what he can get back in Sicily.
If I got this pissed over every shitty commercial I have seen in my life, I don't think I would be alive.
You realise the ultimate irony of all this is that a commercial is designed to get people talking about products......which is exactly what you're doing.
It's funny because it's true Works for me when it comes to those stupid "zoom-zoom" Mazda ads (as much as I like the new lineup, zoom-zoom is sooooooo 2000 it's not even funny). Oh yeah, and it doesn't hurt to use the power button on the TV remote.
I think this entire LINE of commercials is bullcrap, but that's not the point here. You know, the """"family"""" would have to be briefed completely on what Pizza Hut was doing for the commercial to be legal.
"We're going deep into a Guatemalan rain forest to find the elusive Xocaltl tribe and let them try a genuine Burger King Whopper! Let's see what they think!" Entire tribe has sudden and simultaneous massive cardiac arrest just from being in close proximity to the epitome of shitty Western 'food'.
And? I do realise that, but what's stopping Pizza Hut doing this? By the way, I'm not saying it is a real family. Haven't even seen the ad, just want to know why it would be illegal!
McDpnald's has the best ad campaign ever: Genetics and Generations. anyone recall that study a while back where kids (some under 5 IIRC) were fed the exact same, crappy, tasteless hamburger and the only difference was one had the McDonald's wrapper and the kids recognized it and liked it automatically. You can't buy that kind of word of mouth. or is that word of womb?
