Great pics! I'm also enjoying this figure (and the whole line so far) way more than I thought I would, considering I've had every main line movie starscream mold. He's so ridiculously expressive with the added articulation. Can't wait to acquire more weapons for him.

What stand is that that you're using? Does anyone have stand recommendations that work with the hole that these figures have?

This might come as a surprise, especially compared to movie TF's from the past 7 years but.... this figure is around the same size as the original 2007 voyager or very close. Not as hefty nor bulky, but arguably more enjoyable and definitely more accurate.

Any of the figure stands out of Japan will work: Tamashii Act, Figma, Gundam Action Bases, they're all good. All of them have the 3mm mounting peg needed to attach to Transformers figures. For larger figures (Voyager and Leader), you might want one with a larger baseplate like the Gundam Action Bases (the larger ones meant for 1/100 Gundams) for stability.

So something like this would work well for Starscream?

Once I shaved the backs of the knees and learned to work with the odd legs a bit more he’s way more posable than most people have him in pics.

It'll be compatible, but as those stands are designed for 6"~ figures, you might find them a tad small for Voyagers. At least, it's not going to put them very far off the ground. Good for Deluxes though, and pretty cheap (that price is for a pack of three).

Gundam Action Bases have telescoping support arms if you want some extra height for full flying poses.

Aside from the landing gears being a little bit too bulky in relation to the jet itself, I have zero complaint about his F22 mode. Then again that may be a safety regulation thing or they break too easily; unlike 3rd party toys these mainline toys do have regulations to stick to. The jet doesn't quite support itself without the landing gears but it'd look incredible on a flight stand. The undercarriage is not as compact as the real thing, but at the Voyager scale this is probably as good as it gets for a transforming F22 toy. As everyone mentioned, the paint is beautifully executed.

I don't own the DotM Deluxe so the engineering is new to me. A very elegant transformation overall, and I like how the rear landing gears end up being the heel spurs.

The 'bot mode is quite awesome. What I find incredible with these SS figures is that not only are there ample sculpted details, they also look very crisp and sharp compared to the majority of earlier movie figures. Starscream's overall lighter color scheme also helps highlight these details, and all the parts are molded in the "right" colors without the need for color correction with paint. He's big Voyager so this is the SS figure that you surely get your money's worth.

He's a solid figure yet handles and poses very smoothly, with all the right tolerance in the right spot. I'd never realized the Leader Starscream mold has the "curling iron arm" as well like the various smaller ones, so this SS figure finally having a ball jointed wrist makes me happy. I'v never been a fan of the chicken leg design of some of these Bayformers but SS Scramers is very easy to pose and balance.

Overall, another winner in the Studio Series.

Just purchased Starscream. This is a pretty good figure if you ask me, even through I'm not a big fan of the character in the Bay movies.

Wow, he absolutely looks fantastic. I must say though, it's times like these I wish we had light piping back. I just think that the red in his eyes are too dull and make the figure look lifeless.

Another thing I like about this Screamer is that the upper arm hinge where the bicep swivel is can bend in both direction, which means it can double as the elbow joint when you attach the weapon to his arm. This way you can flip the forearm around to have the right side of the weapon facing up, whilst hiding the folded hand, and creating an "extended arm weapon" impression at the same. The hinge is not there for transformation so imo it's a very well thought out little feature.

The hinge where the bicep swivel is? That's for transformation. It just so happens it can be used as a (very high) elbow should you need it.

Just try out the transformation of this figure a few times. The deco on the F-22 Raptor mode looks great and almost comparable to some other F-22 raptor model kits available out there; The underside of the jet is a little bit more bulky than I would like, however.

    Just forget Bay.

People should simply look at these figures as they are: good toys - then, make them fit in your own ideal fanfic.
Or - use the Reign of Starscream comic for decent inspiration.

The nice thing about this mold is that, despite have a little bit of kibble underneath; it's at located at the center bottom. In other words, it's not visible from most display angles and more importantly ; it doesn't skew most of the crucial silhouette lines.

Just look at the en face silhouette of the fuselage and air intakes of the leader class mold's jet mode; it's bloated and skewed out of proportion.. and the air intakes' sides are squared off, adding even more of a bulky look from most display angles.

Sorry, I should rephrase, transformation doesn't require bending in both directions though.

Don't get me wrong. As much as I didn't care about Starscream's characterization in the movies, Studio Series Starscream is truly a great figure and toy on its own.

The arms are so incredibly expressive. My only main complaint about this toy is that the legs are a bit tough to work with and so don’t become as expressive. If there were some movement in the feet aside from the toe moving up and down and some more bend in the knees that would help a lot.
