I'm kinda on the fence, I like the design but I don't really like the fact that the head is shared between bot and alt mode (just kind of my slight peeve, I guess?) :/

Funny enough I actually like that design element. He pulls it off.

Yeah, that was not meant as a... complaint? I guess, it's just like, I'm torn because it looks good in some photo cause it make him a little monstrous, but on the other hand, it looks a bit... weird in other photos?

I can't really explain it well, but that's basically how I feel.

How's the articulation of the head in either mode though?

In both modes it can't look much left to right but it can rotate around but not all the way but in both modes it has crazy up range so you can have him looking hunched over. Yeah just got him today I heard goods things and I hand he's pretty unique.

Probably the smart way to go the rest is super poseable despite the head range.

Probably, although I agreed that he feels like one of the best rotb toys, which mean I can maybe cave earlier lol

The original Deluxe Scorponok from TF07 had a shared mode head, but didn't pull it off as good as this one does.
The neck articulation could be better, but it's still pretty easy to pull off a dynamic pose. 20240219_082800.jpg

Yeah, the shared head is done really well on this figure. I like that he also retains quite a bit of side-to-side articulation in alt mode, too.

So I totally screwed up, and it ended up turning into a happy little accident...
I was messing with him and was trying to figure out how I could get his tail to kind of come up behind him like previous Scorponoks from years past...
I noticed the little hole on the top of his back and thought "well if I make that hole a bit bigger, I can just plug his tail in there, and it'll be perfect!"
Yeah...I accidentally made the hole a little TOO big....so I'm thinking..."how can I build this up a little bit...I know! Superglue!"
Well...I didn't wait long enough for the glue to completely dry before I stuck the tail peg in there...and now it's permanently attached...
    Except...I kinda like it now, so he's just going to stay like this. 20240226_085640.jpg 20240226_085643.jpg 20240226_085649.jpg 20240226_085656.jpg 20240226_085708.jpg 20240226_085729.jpg 20240226_090102.jpg 20240226_090108.jpg 20240226_090114.jpg 20240226_090125.jpg 20240226_090118.jpg

Don’t ever use super glue for joints and things like that. Use floor polish. Just as effective and no chance of what happened to you happening. Although I’m glad you’re not mad about the results.

It had some good gimmicks and detailing, that's for sure. The new one has more character, though. Of course, the new one was actually meant to be a robot while the one from '07 was just a scorpion and maybe part of a helicopter.

This figure will probably be a sleeper hit due to Scorponok being a final act background legion character. I have all of the ROTB deluxe figure but Wheeljack right now and I would give Scorponok 2nd place right behind Bumblebee. He is simple but fun and full of personality.

My only issue is I wish the stinger on the tail was on a ball joint.

One thing that I don't see anyone mentioning is how fun this transformation is. I really enjoyed the process (especially the arms). This is not your typical scorpion transformation.

Don't the two forward arms count?
