Got Mixmaster a week ago and after handling him. I must say he is a good figure.

For the packaging, it's the standard SS box. I really love the artwork for Mixmaster, it's very detailed and we've never seen before.

After unboxing him, he does come mistransformed out of packaging. But the instructions do show you how to get him all together.

Here we can see that it shows the combination for Mixmaster and Scavenger. And they also updated the release dates.

Now I'll start off with the vehicle mode. The vehicle does look pretty good. I love the paint on it. However, I would've wished for my painted details for example a Decepticon insignia at the mixing barrel. Overall I think the vehicle doesn't have much flaws. There isn't much robot kibble present apart from his claws hanging out at the side of the back.
At the bottom you can just see his face and everything. The little logo on the front is also a very nice added touch from HasTak. And the silver paint once again looks great. 20191211_232504.jpg 20191211_232518.jpg 20191211_232524.jpg 20191211_232534.jpg 20191211_232641.jpg
    20191212_001950.jpg
Now onto transformation from vehicle to head mode. Transformation is okay. I had a tough time pulling his head out. By the way, he does need to parts form by taking out the front of the vehicle. But I do not really mind as it looks good. There are lots of tabs you need to take get in place in order to complete the mode. And the instructions are terrible once again. It's a good transformation that does it job but not one I really enjoy to transform all the time.

Now the head. I love it! The head looks amazing! The details are all there and just love the monstrous face. The details are spot on with those green eyes and teeth. The jaw can also open and close. The overall mode looks pretty good and once you get everything tabbed in, it stays in place really well. A solid mode indeed. The paint and sculpting is spot on as well.
    20191212_002025.jpg 20191212_002046.jpg 20191211_234233.jpg 20191211_234221.jpg 20191211_234211.jpg

Now time for robot mode. The transformation from vehicle to robot or head to robot is really easy as you just untab everything. However, I had a really tough time getting him from robot to vehicle. The instructions are very bad and I had to figure out myself where the panels had to position. It can be quite frustrating for the start but i think it will be more fluid as it goes. There are plenty of tabs you need to line up in order to transform him.

Now the robot mode. It looks awesome! The proportions are good, the sculpt is great as usual from SS. The head sculpt is spot on but it lacks red eyes! Which kinda bugs me. I also wished it had more paint like some yellow/golden highlights just like the box art and more paint in general to bring out the sculpt. I know most people are concerned about his size and yes, he is very short for a Voyager, standing around just a little taller than Bonecrusher. However, he is very wide for a Voyager and the bulk justifies it. Currently I only have Rampage so I can only compare that. I do feel Mixmaster should be taller, maybe around 2cm. Nonetheless he is a great figure. He also doesn't have any QC issues, for my copy. However, you need to position him to stand as the back may be too heavy since the hip joints are not super tight. It is just normal tightness.

    Articulation:
•Ball jointed head- joint is at back of head so limits the amount he can look side to side
•Neck is on a hinge so he can look up very far and down a little.
•Shoulders have butterfly joints in robot mode due to transformation.
    •Swivel at the shoulder
    •Bicep swivel
    •90° bend at elbow
•Claws can hinge up and down
•Legs can do the full splits and move front and back
    •Thigh swivel
    •90° knee bend
•Feet can move front and back

Personally I feel he has good articulation but would've wished for some ankle tilt and waist swivel but I am fine with it. He can get into some dynamic poses but a little back heavy due to Devastator head at the back. I'm sure people can get him into stunning poses.

Overall I feel that Mixmaster is a solid entry to the studio series line. I'm very satisfied with him and definitely worth adding to your SS collection. Now my hype for Devastator is increasing...

If anyone has any questions or requests, feel free to ask here. I'll do my best to answer if I have the means to do so. I also apologise if my pictures are bad or I did not explain anything in the review. If so, please tell me so I can improve.

Can you angle his arms down so he doesn't look so T-posed?

You can but you'll need to un tab it from that area. It doesnt look as nice since his arms would touch the ground when relaxed

In head mode, can the top shields open up? I wonder I the "hat" will be able to sit in between them

You can if you want but I'm not sure if it still can combine since that is tabbed together. To answer your question, yes.

Very thorough review! Well done. The only thing he seems to be missing to be perfect to me is wrist articulation (might find a way to add that myself if someone talented like @Lukelbs doesn't figure it out first) and a decepticon insignia. Fortunately I have many many spare decepticon insignias so that's not a problem for me!

This one doesn't seem to have the wide mouth vortex gimmick the actual on-screen Devastator, as well as the RotF Ultimate had.
That's a shame. The little Legion figures worked so well with that one.

For now, I don't think so. The legion class one I have from 2009 is too big.
Thank you! I can't wait for the mods you'll do for Mixmaster!
    Thank you!
Yea. They should be revealed at Toy Fair 2020.

    Great review dude.

I loved G1 as a kid..im a bit G1'd out though. The movie constructicons have so much character, looking at them now in these ultra high detailed molds. Its like each one is a specialist at one job..like a crack team should be

Although the movies were often disappointing in their story, the designs spark my imagination so much. I’d love to see a comic miniseries or something just about these guys! They did it for the G1 Constructicons in IDW recently didn’t they? I wish they’d continued that “tales of the fallen” series I loved that.

Same. I think Revenge of the Fallen was a really bad Transformers movie when it comes to how characters acted, but the actual designs they used are probably some of my favorites in the franchise because of how creative and interesting they were. The Constructicons and Devastator, Sideswipe, the Bike Triplets, Jetfire (to a lesser degree), and even some toy-exclusives like Ransack, Mindwipe, or Breakaway.

It's all due to the writer's strike. The bad script AND the awesome designs. While there was a writer's strike Bay used the time to dream up crazy robot designs with the artists and production people. Instead of allowing the release date to be pushed back so they could write the story and make the movie though Bay insisted they do it by the already announced release date so everything else was rushed. In the special features he even says he was working on the movie until the NIGHT BEFORE THE PREMIERE.

I've made this analogy before, but I love the movie CCs because it's like each once is a boss fight. They each look like they could be the focus of entire fight scenes on their own instead of just being a bunch of dudes.

Awesome review! I recently picked up Mixmaster from an EB Games and was just in love with him. I love all three modes and I’m just fascinated with how much I’m enjoying these studio series figures; more than anything the previous toys and appearance in the movies has done.
