The more I look at this, the more Im convinced early on in the design stage that this was meant to be Jazz.
At first I would agree but now I just like it a lot less. And wether you like it more or less it's still very innacurate and just looks pretty bad. Clear arms and a massive backpack that's most likely also clear. I thought with figures like Hot Rod, Dino and Sideways we've moved past that for movie carbots.
I like it but I'll wait for official toy pictures to form a proper opinion. The 3D renders here are pretty nice looking. This is our first officially Porsche licensed Transformers figure since 1984 Jazz!
It's not so much getting my hopes up, I'm not that pushed on him but for those not happy with the screen accuracy etc they might release a selects one or something. Who knows?
I thought he was in wave 3. Does that mean Nightbird could also have gotten shifted to wave 2?? Maybe we will get a nightbird reveal soon as well. I think she is absent from all marketing so far so that they can reveal her in the 2nd trailer or maybe cuz she might have a significant role in the plot with her switching sides and everything...
Apparently they've both been moved to wave 4 with Primal (well he's technically Leader Class wave 3, but due the same time), and two other core class figures. If I remember right, Wheeljack's wave 2 and Rhinox is wave 3. But if it's changed once already it may change again.
Could it be any more inaccurate? Btw. There's no visor, Hasblow's is just painted wrong. You can clearly see the eyes under the blue unibrow.
This version is an easy pass for me. As a transformer figure I'm sure he's decent. For adult collectors though who don't play with their toys I think some of us (well this collector) wants a screen accurate fig for display
this looks way wayyyyyyyyyy better than the actual toy. I guess in a couple years some 3p will make a better one. money saved.
G1 Transformers were not licensed, so this is our first Porsche licensed figure ever!! Bring me muuuuuh MP Jazz!!!
Tbh I don't think they should be doing Studio Series figures before the movie even comes out (or even shortly after for that matter). What made some of the early SS figures so great was that the characters had literally tonnes of figures produced before, and the designers could pick and choose some of the best designs and just upscale them to make the absolute best toy for that character possible. SS 07/ROTF Starscream, for instance, is literally just an upscaled DOTM Deluxe Starscream. Trying to make the perfect figure in the first go seems a bit of a tall order, and to make matters worse the movie hasn't even come out yet, so the designs that the ROTB SS toys are based on aren't necessarily the final designs! SS ROTB Mirage clearly has the wrong colours in places that could easily be changed i.e. the lack of blue on the head. An obvious reason for this is that the toy isn't based on the final design. I wouldn't be that bothered - if Hasbro make a toy I don't want I just don't buy it - but with SS it means we'll never get decent versions of these characters, or at least not until they start redoing characters.
There's alot of ways they could've broken up the car mode's shell to get something closer to the animated character, so it makes me wonder if they were forced to keep the car parts "shell-ish and mostly hole" to appease the licensor's demands of likeness. I recall Aaron Archer mentioning once how some of the car companies do not like at all when seam lines and other modifications are added to their cars.
IMHO the TFBB movie became a reboot when we were shown how Optimus came to Earth, and Bee for that matter... Rather take the actual released movies as canon than whoever said anything
If the mainline figure ends up looking better I might pick that one up for robot mode and the SS version to display in car mode.
