Also, this makes sense with Generations Unicron finally happening. The timing isn't accidental.

This reminds of the picture of the big fat lady putting up lost dog signs and the little dog stuck in her buttcrack.

okay I'm going to be clear, I think G1 is overdone and overrated and I think it needs to retire.

    but

Seeing at the 2007 film cast has been concluded by Studio Series and that we are very close to finishing RoTF, I do not mind the 1986 movie having some toys in Studio Series as a one off thing for the 2021 year as it's the 35th anniversary of the movie.
I know why they are in SS but I can not tell, let's just say it's a nice conclusion.

Well, I'm happy that people can get this figure that they want, I just wish it wasn't in the SS line because it will probably dilute it. There are quite a few characters from the newer movies that need a figure, including Galvatron, knight OP, Crosshairs, Hound, and the other Dinobots. Oh well, what does it matter to me? I don't even collect the Studio Series line, just admire from a distance lmao

I collect both CHUG and Studio Series, and this just sounds like...really dumb marketing.

As in, as dumb as Lego marketing Duplo in all-black 14+ boxes.

Why go to the trouble of building a recognisable brand if you're just going to piss it away with fucking Gnaw of all characters?

Maybe they could do a multipack with Mohawk, Reedman, Frenzy? And Scalpel?

I always felt this was the way SS was going anyway. Generations are the "older kids" toys, and Masterpiece has gone out of many collectors price range. HasTak doesn't want to lose the collector market, so they created a middle ground.

I don’t think they’ll have to worry about shelf space, since Cyberverse has ended this year. It’s possible to replace that Cyberverse line with a Beast Wars line. There’s still a bunch of characters that are G1 related, we can see in WFC part 3.

If Grindor has his 2009 voyager color scheme I may get him. I always thought that was such a cool looking color scheme.

Aye Carumba this thread...2020 is all about division apparently. It seems a lot of Transformers fans don't get the collector mentality or business mentality. On the business side, G1 is a Cash Cow and HELLO there is a $600 Unicron coming in 2021 so naturally they will cross market. They are maximizing profit.

On the collector side WFC is totally G1. Tetrajets, mini MP Autobots, proper Seekers etc. It's cute that some people think wildly out of scale and plasticy toys from 5-10 years ago are as good as Marvel Legends Wolverine, Spider-man, Cap etc. They're NOT. Not even close before WFC. So now that we're getting these figures they are going to COMPLETE it. I have some SS, they're wicked cool, so I get feeling infringed on. But '86 was a movie and 2021 is a big year for it. What the haters aren't getting is that this will expedite whatever is NEXT. I expected WFC3 to focus heavy on the movie and while it still will, SS probably gives them a chance to truly wrap up G1 once and for all.

And while I find it idiotic that BW would be in WFC 3 when the line has dedicated itself so well to G1, I'd say chances are good they show up now. I would prefer more baseformers and an attempt to introduce new characters they could build on in the future though. My big concern/question though is will Grimlock have the ports and play pattern?? Because I bet at least one of either Hot Rod, Rodimus, Galvatron, Kup or Cyclonus is placed in SS now. And if they do NOT have the ports it's gonna be inconsistent.....so yeah then we will see revised big guns in SS down the road. Just 'sayin
