How'd you get Scrapmetal to sit sideways? doesn't seem like his peg would fit in Hightower's hole that way.

You can force it in the port like that, but I don't know what the long term effects will be, so I put it back into the regular configuration shortly after this photo

He is great! Beefy, solid vehicle mode, awesome robot mode.

    Though only 2 complaints:

    1. A lot of tight snaps, in areas that looks like very thin plastic.
    2. The way mixmaster combines is really difficult, and causes him to fall apart from his head mode.

The wheel on mine won't move unless you force it.

This guy is really great, even as a stand-alone. It helps that I love the design to begin with, but they really nailed the toy interpretation. Feels solid. Feels sturdy. Feels simple enough to fiddle with. Looks great. Could use more white paint, but oh well.

I wonder if they originally designed this character with the thought that he would be part of a combining toy one day. He certainly makes a perfect upper torso, having no legs and being so wide.

Seeing as how they didn't design, say, Optimus Prime with the thought that he would one day be a toy that's also a truck, I think that's probably a no. :p

Cool toy, but I still far prefer the original way of dealing with the wheels. They ruin the alt mode on this one.

    Great lad, this one.

He enjoys settling down of an evening, being tucked in and illegally watching popular space westerns.

Despite (er.. because of, thanks) his rather unique appearance, he scrubs up well for glamour shots.

    MYBOY3.jpg

And when posing for a close up, his cheeks look like little hands flipping you off. Therefore he is the best.

Got it today, and it's lots of fun! I think they did the best they could given the budget, good figure. Waiting for the last two members, now!

Got mine from Pulse yesterday and he’s fine. The transformation is surprisingly complex and he’s chunky as hell, but the vehicle mode ends up looking pretty phoned in.

I will say though, this is my first time looking at Hasbro instructions in many many years and holy shit when people said these things are terrible I thought they were being overly dramatic but man these are awful.

I didn't really think they really designed him around the combined mode, but then I saw how the hip joint on the combined mode torso looks suspiciously like the wheel support/axle on Scavenger. It's not something you can really spot in the movie, but that detail on the renders really suggest maybe he was designed with combined mode in mind to some extent.

I don't understand - why wouldn't scavenger be designed from the start as part of a combining team?

There are a lot of people that view the individual constructicons as separate from Devastator. Mostly because the vehicles that formed him were never shown to transform into anything else, and the bulk of the constructicons were off getting exploded somewhere else when devy shows up. Basically, the vehicles could have been designed to turn into a robot or a combiner, but were never shown to be both in the movie. Leading to people wondering about whether turning into both was even an intent on the designers part.
