To be fair though, Carry’s alt mode ends up being proportionally pretty small as a result.

    Ok.

The trailer collapsing into the robot mode without mass shifting, creating a huge, massive bulky Rodimus. Because that's what we'd get out of a Rodimus Prime toy with a trailer that was part of the robot mode like the cartoon did.

See how easy that was? It's laughable that you think Hasbro could budget something a 3rd party did in their main line.

Exactly. Imagine a Voyager sized Rodimus Prime robot with a Carry transformation scheme. Nobody wants a Deluxe sized truck mode.

I like commander skylynx the way he is, but the show disagrees with you. Refer to the two situations I mentioned before. Anyways, size is your complaint, not mine. I simply don’t want a giant chunk of plastic which is required for the alt mode but isn’t part of the robot mode.

I disagree, I’m sure that Hasui or any other clever engineer could design something that was self contained and scaled close to what you are requesting.

Your automatic (and adamant) assumption that it’s not possible makes no sense. DX9 Carry has been out for many years now, engineering has massively improved since that time. His existence simply illustrates that a working all in one transformation is possible, as does the shitty titanium figure.

Ya, I’d be fine with that. Or leader class figure with a voyager alt mode.
It doesn’t bother me. I just want a good figure.

And yet he’s had many toys in the last 35 years that didn’t come with a trailer.

The wizardry you're asking for is not feasible for mainline product, nor is it desirable. The only example proper we have, if you include 3P, is Fanstoys' Roadking, and even so that figure ends up a bit oversized in bot mode.

If you are lucky Takara will go that route if/when they will revisit Rodimus.

what wizardry is unfeasible and what exactly is undesirable? Takara and hasbro obviously have good engineers. You don’t want a figure that is all inclusive and scales correctly? I don’t know why you’d find that undesirable, but ok

I just want the transformation to be all inclusive and I’m obviously not the only one. I don’t care if the figure is “oversized” in robot mode, or undersized in alt-mode, or whatever you and C16’s perspective is.

I don’t even understand why you all are expecting a massive different in size between modes. mass shifting is typically unexpected and very few mainline figures have been able to do it. See people’s reaction to Animated Lockdown. Just because dx9 carry was that way doesn’t mean every rodimus will be. And it’s completely illogical to think otherwise.

Ah, you don’t care about scale. Well, that explains your sentiment. Not your opinion on the matter though. This is WFC, it’s all about scale.

Just to be extra clear, I’m not arguing against your preference. I mean, I myself would love to see an all-in-one powered up super robot Rodimus Prime, in whatever scale. Just not a slavishly G1 WFC scaled Rodimus; that needs to be a voyager. And that’s what we’ll get. And I’m gonna eat it up (and many many others will too). I’m so glad they gave my man Rodimus the CC treatment.

To be fair, Hasbro/Takara has released an all-in-one Rodimus. It was deluxe sized. The basic frame/skeleton could easily be improved and adapted into a great all-in-one as a future Rodimus, it just wouldn't be G1 toy Rodimus.

I'm not arguing either way. My personal preference is for a Rodimus with trailer/combat deck, like the G1 toy.

Carry is no more complicated from an engineering standpoint than the Voyager class Hot Rod from SS86. At Commander Class prices? Yes, Hasbro could match that, easily.

In fact, Carry cost me 79.99 at release. For a 3P product. Commander Class toys are running what? $60 US? That's almost the same price, so again, I don't see why you seem to think this is outside the realm of possibility.

Yes, it sounds like we're getting the battle platform version. But that's an intentional design choice from Hasbro, not an engineering or budgetary necessity.

What exactly about my opinion isn’t explained?

As I stated: an separate trailer doesn’t match the fiction and making a separate chunk of plastic which is required for the altmode is not something I find enjoyable. It’s not like Optimus’s trailer because at least with Optimus, you have a complete alt mode if you leave the trailer to the side.

I don’t care about scale, I just want a good figure that properly represents the character. I simply don’t understand this belief that it’s impossible to make an all in one rodimus that scales correctly

Honestly, before Earthrise was a thing and we were speculating about a leader Rodimus I was hoping they’d do an Energon homage. And I think there’s still potential for that (or something like this Titanium one).

The opinion that it doesn’t match the fiction. Now if he was in SS86, I would not have disputed your statement.

Um, in what fiction does Rodimus have a battle platform? In what way is the statement that it doesn’t match the fiction not accurate?

Its not an opinion, it’s a fact. Rodimus doesn’t have a battle platform in the cartoon or movie. I don’t understand how you can argue otherwise.

I replied to your sentence mentioning the separate trailer, as that’s not correct (just go google/grap some screenshots).

Anyway, I think we went long enough on this. I have made my point(s).

I hope you can get an all-in-one Rodimus somewhere down the line. I'll be down for that too. :thumb

Sorry, I thought we were specifically talking about battle platforms. Ya, the trailer comes off a handful of times, but much like how hot rod transforms different ways in the movie, I always took it as an alternate transformation and never really felt it justified an removable trailer on the toy. But hey I’ll admit when I’m wrong.

Sure sure, I hope it wasn’t taken in bad form, I’m just stating my opinion and never meant anything angrily or personally.

And for all my disappointment in the battle platform, I’ll still buy the upcoming commander and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.

Also, I’ll make some people mad saying it, but hey if they want to do something completely out of left field I’m totally down. I love titans return, so if they went nuts and gave him a titan master head or a micromaster hot rod, with the rest of the figure turning into a battle station, then I’m completely down. Or if they did something like the originally proposed power master Optimus Prime remold, I’d be down as well. I like my deep cuts.

We're talking about G1 Prime, the character. His subsequent toys aren't relevant and don't override his complete design.

Because the line is adhering strongly to the G1 cartoon scale. They're not going to give us a giant Rodimus that towers over Prime or Galvatron, and they're not going to make a sacrifice for the truck mode in order to include the trailer into the robot like Carry. A large truck mode is going to mean a large robot mode.

Carry's compromise is his tiny alt mode. It's not illogical to know that a robot with a trailer that folds into itself can't be a Voyager sized robot and a Leader sized vehicle mode. That mass has to go somewhere and your precious example of Carry proves it since it gives us a correctly sized robot, but an undersized vehicle.

The least amount of compromise to get a Rodimus Prime that is the same size as Optimus in robot mode and still have a big enough vehicle mode to go along with him is a battle trailer. It may not have existed in the cartoon, but it still exists and I'd rather not have any concessions for either mode just fellate the magical idea of the trailer disappearing that can't exist as a real 3D object. There's no debate on how good Takara's engineers are, the debate is making it work in mainline budget. You may not care about scale, but that's irrelevant because that's what the line is going for, and you're going to have to accept what that means for a character and figure like this.

    I rest my case.

How many G1 style Rodimus Prime molds have we gotten? 4 (G1, Titanium and Power of the Primes and Masterpiece). How many of those had a detachable trailer? 3. It is a feature the character has had for 34 years and has been used on almost every transforming iteration of G1 Rodimus Prime.

What I'm saying is that an MP Jazz will look more or less like this mainline Porsche in terms of detail (cartoon accuracy direction of current MP line). This tells me that Porsche doesn't have an issue with TFs as 'war toys', because if it did, why wouldn't this version of Jazz (which is clearly a Porsche) be slapped with a cease and desist? It can't be as simple as licensing; Porsche would be protective of its IP, which in my opinion, this Jazz clearly infringes upon.

I realize mainline toys don't have licenses like the MP line does (the majority of carbots), so are we to believe that Takara can't just come out with a Jazz whose altmode is quite Porsche-y, like this one, and not licensed? Of course they can...but they don't. Has Takara mandated that all carbot MPs must have licensing from their respective manufacturer? If so, why wouldn't Porsche take some kind of action against THIS Jazz?...simply because its not licensed? I don't think this is the case. There has to be some other reason, and I'd wager it has to do with the one thing that fudges many good ideas: MONEY. The whole 'war toy' stance, while documented in other instances from Porsche with other toys, can't be the reason, in my opinion. They would have come after Takara long ago if that was the case.

Just my thoughts on the matter. Maybe the rant forum would be a better place for this post, lol!

The front of Studio Series Jazz is purposely less accurate to the real Porsche than even the cartoon model.

A lot of times it appears people say the cartoon vehicles aren't accurate to real world ones when they were almost always traced from photos of the G1 toys. For car licensing, changes to a design tend to be subtle as seen in video games w/o proper clearance.

With regards to a transforming Rodimus Prime with a large vehicle mode, DX9 and Fanstoys were able to include all or some of their Motormaster trailers into the main figure without being too much larger than MP-10.

But were not talking MP, We're talking a much smaller figure.

Besides, multiple of our leakers have already told us how Rodimus is going to work, it is pointless to argue. He is going to have a fo-hotrod car mode that combines with a fully integrated Battle Platform and comes with a Rodimus version of Roller. Then he transforms into a bot mode around Magnus height with the said Battle platform.
