That's pretty much it. It gives the impression that it's okay to call someone that. Most TF names are of course nonsensical in that context and would just get you weird looks, but a kid going on talking about "Slag" in the UK might get some negative attention.

Though if Shaggy can keep his name for 60-70 years, so can Slag.

No, they're quietly phasing WfC-style G1 in to SS so Generations can do more non-G1.

I totally agree. Karens ruin everything. However, innuendos are a fact of life now. I won’t state them on here, as I don’t want to get banned or whatever, but certain numbers, fruits and shapes are essentially a minefield for this. However, my younger brother doesn’t know what a certain number means. If he’s counting to 100, and he says that number, does that mean he is trying to do anything like that? No, it’s just certain words and numbers will always have double meaning and innuendos. If we really want to be politically correct, or avoid these double meanings, then it’s easiest to just invent a new language, because words are like this. Sorry, this isn’t directed towards you, it’s more of frustration at how everything has a secret double meanings nowadays that almost always means something horrible.

Reminds me of a scene from Deep Space Nine. O'Brien and Keiko are trying to decide what to name their second kid. People are floating names around and everything keeps getting turned down. Somebody suggested the name "Shawn" or "Sean" but they couldn't use it because it meant "swamp" in Bajoran. If you take that line of thinking to its logical conclusion, they should just give everything a numeric designation, at least until the Borg join the Federation and half of those are off limits too because they mean things like "toilet" or "anus."

You know the shape of a banana, or of a sausage? Apparently, those shapes are a reference to certain body parts. I won’t say more, but see how it goes? It’s an everyday item, but it has a double meaning.

Well, Hasbro may have to and will likely always call him Slug from now on and never use the other word in fiction or print it on package ever again because they're a worldwide company and have to take these things into consideration, but you yourself aren't held to that decision and do not have to abide by it. You can still say the word and call the character Dinobot Slag all you want at home and with friends or on the boards and as long as you're only use the word for good and not in a derogatory way no one will have any issue with it.

Oh yeah, for sure. I’m not concerned. I’m just saying that the rebranding sucks and I think the reason that Hasbro is forced to do it is stupid, but I understand why.

Perfect. That’s pretty much what I was trying to say anyways, except you said it way better.

No, they are not. Sausages and bananas aren't produced with the intention to look like a dick. Those "shapes" don't reference anything, it's the other way around. We reference them for the sake of innuendo humour, specifically because they are not actually dicks. Hence the innuendo, but nobody looks at sausages or bananas and actually thinks to themselves "Oh my God there's penises all over this grocery store!"

"Slag" isn't innuendo, though, it's literally a word for prostitute. It'd be like calling Slag "Hooker" in America, it's that synonymous. Comparing it to innuendo about bananas and sausages is not even close to the same thing.

Late to comment, though I saw this a few days ago.

I realize this is centered on SS86 in particular, and my guess is that they’re keeping him on lock, or it’s just too early given his Kingdom wave, but when are we going to see Galvatron?

After skimming the posts, now I'm generally curious. In British vernacular, does "Slag" also refer to the leftover/undesirable materials from smelting/ refining metal ore or is it only used as a derogatory term?
