So all the characters we don’t have Earth modes for are on the table for redos. Springer, Hound, Mirage, Sideswipe, etc.
I mean, I don't know Springer is up for grabs other than a cleaner repaint, but the others maybe. We know they've made Earth Sideswipe and need somewhere to put it, SS86 may fit
All Springer would be likely to get is a redeco, not a whole new figure. His existing one is already accurate to how he looked in the movie aside from battle damage and I don’t recall Sideswipe, Mirage or Hound being in the 86 movie (though that hasn’t stopped Hasbro in the main Studio Series releases either)
The more i look at them, they look less and less appealing. I was planning on getting Jazz, Kup and Scourge, but now only Scourge looks good for me and i like him the least out of Unicron Trio. Kup looks like he has interesting transformation and alt mode, with ok bot mode. Jazz is "eh, good enough" better then POTP, worse then RTS. The rest looks bad. Grimlock reminds me of his Energon figure with his yellow chest. Now to wait for the reviews and see how do they compare to my expectations.
That's all from those three. Sideswipe was storyboarded to show up in the Devastator attack and Mirage was going to die during the main autobot city fight but his scene got cut during production.
If they were gonna do an earth mode Sideswipe it probably would have happened by now. As is, his Siege appearance is 95% there already. I love the Lambos, they are basically to me the Autobot equivalent of the Seekers. The basic troop, so in my head I can justify having three or more decos of each figure. But I’m kind of Lambo’d out. I’d love to see a Clampdown, but I’ve gone back and forth about Tigertrack ( I wish they varied the weapons more. )
Jazz is a must-have for me. Something about grimlock seems idk off... Also what’s wrong with blurr everyone is complaining about him but I don’t see it like the arm kibble is accurate also I might get the headmaster. Wish there was something more exiting in these reveals
A 3 pack of new mold insecticons would be cool but very unlikely unfortunately. Earth mode hound? Maybe?
I'd be okay with this but I'd be SO MUCH happier with a new, sleeker, mold. I'd also love a Coneheads 3-pack since the Earthrise ones seem to have become impossible to find for a reasonable price.
It's just, that's not gonna happen. A Voyager Megs would turn into a plausibly sized gun. They got away with it at Legends scale, but that thing can be held by an MP Seeker... nobody's gonna mistake it for a real gun. And the previous Megatron in the US market that turned into a gun looked and was colored like a Nerf gun. I actually think it's really cool and I still have it, but it wouldn't work for the purpose of this toyline. So I'm good with a tank that turns into G1 robot and the Megatron gun mode that came in the Centurion accessory pack.
Part of me really hopes Grimlock is this big (Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus big), but retains the heaft WFC is known for (atleast Siege was; Siege OP feels like a brick in hand, almost like the Animated figures).
Red Alert also was in the storyboards and slated to die too. Trailbreaker and Smokescreen were also among the dead. they killed off so many of my favorite characters in the movie. That pissed me off so much
