that's it exactly. it's totally clear and translucent, like bits of a really thin plastic bag or, like you said, dried flakes of glue. There's no color tinge that would make me think it's excess material from the molding process, so I wonder if some parts and pieces are given a protective coating of sorts after they're molded and that's runoff/excess from that process.

I wonder how widespread this is? I haven't seen any threads about it like there are about the yellowing plastics people are encountering.

Has anyone made a non-3D printed peg-in cover for his back hole, that has a hinge on it to open and close the cover?

nothing against 3D printing, but it’s rare to find stuff that has an actual smooth finish. There’s almost always some weird texture from the print process.

I just want something that will blend in completely with the figure, and look like it was part of the design.

I assume it's on the list of things to do for DNA. They probably just have to devise a couple of other upgrades for other characters to pack it with.

Picked this up at Wally World this morning, but am wondering now if I really need it.
I didn't like the HM gimmick before, but I could at least keep the head attached in alt mode.

I'm just over buying things over and over.

Its my first Perceptor, so Im happy with this guy, even if hes a little vanilla. I got him to rpund out the Season 3/Movie cast, and he looks good next to his buddy Blaster. 20220622_180446.jpg (excuse the bathroom background)

Anyways, hes fairly simplistic to tramsform, but his alt mode is clean and while it doesnt function like his G1 microscope, it makes for some neat posing situations. 20220622_180849.jpg

The 3rd "tank" mode is passable. If I was a kid, it would be a good way for him to travel with his fellow Autobots. 20220622_181056.jpg

I think its pretty neat you can have a core class figure probably ride him. I used Eject as a good example: 20220622_181400.jpg

Perceptor was never a big favorite of mine, but he featured heavily in some of my favorite season 2 episodes, tje movie and the 3rd season. He also lasts long enough to show up in Victory along with a ressurected Wheeljack (!?). He's a good figure if a bit bland, but seems essential at the same time.

Anyone else have a chest plate/microscope tray hinge that is SCARY tight?

Mine is so damn tight that I'm afraid that I'm going to break the clear plastic every time I hinge it up and down.

Mine is pretty tight too, but I've never been afraid of breaking it. Instead, it's rubbed off the paint on the front.

Your call, but this is the sixth page of a review thread for the figure, with loads of opinions to review to make an informed decision.

At the where, now? I still haven't seen one in Michigan yet, let alone one less than $25 like I'd prefer.

They only had that one at the S&R Liquidation store in Clinton Township, Michigan last Sunday. I grabbed it a few moments after the door opened.

I have seen some Lego sets before but this is the first Transformer.

Finally got this guy to finish my main season 3 Autobot cast. If this guy had a cover for the head hole he'd be perfect. Blanche perhaps, but he looks great next to Blaster and the rest.

I put in a preorder at BBTS a long time ago that was delayed until December 2022. Never saw this on a store shelf anywhere. Went to Retro-Con today and saw him at one of the vendors there for $30. Picked him up and cancelled my BBTS pre-order. Just sick of the wait.

He's good. Bot mode is movie accurate and that's the primary reason most of us want him. Transformation to microscope feels a bit too simple, but again accurate to toon material. Although I wish the legs locked in somehow in the alt mode. As a transformer he's kind of boring. Feels good in hand though, but there's definitely a "That's it?" to him.

Yeah, he's kinda boring, but necessary if you're into SS86, and he looks good there.

I love this dawn figure. My first Percepyor was that suv one but this one is a worthy upgrade for sure.

I don’t hate many figures, but I hated that one. This guy is leagues and leagues better unless you care about having a car alt mode or updated styling.

I tried to transform that version recently and came dang close to flinging it against a wall. That was an...interesting...era in CHUG engineering.
