So dynamic for a big brute!
I find the talk of future 'toy-accurate' release interesting since this Grimlock is part movie accurate and part G1 toy accurate...like the designers couldn't make up their minds. The dark chest window is obviously not movie / show accurate at all where as the solid dino neck is. The dark window would be more G1 toy accurate but still too dark for that (have an old toy for comparison).
I'm going to try to make a lighter smoke version of the chest window later and see how that looks (thinking more like MP-3/8 style).
Dino mode with the clear window mod. Sharing Kranix with Beast Megatron.
I thought Grimlock and Megatron were making out.
So did I. And that's why Optimus is in the background freaking out.
I'm loving this line. I love the backdrops! I hope the 86 line goes on for a while. I'd love a proper transforming Wheelie, Wreck-Gar, a clean Springer, and the other 4 Dinobots.
Is it's possible to slip a piece of paper or something behind Kup's windshield to hide all that gribble?
it may be possible but it would have to be a really thin piece of paper. I just tried it with a standard sheet of printer paper. There’s some separation but I can’t tell how far down it would go as the paper seemed to bind due to the thickness.
Got lucky at Walmart.
Said every redneck ever
There's sculpting behind the neck pieces similar to the G1 toy. That's actually the main reason I think a toy-centric one is in the works. Also, we're supposedly getting toon and toy-centric Galvatrons, so the precedent may be there.
Yeah, it's on the box renders too, which is disappointing because the renders looked pretty good and was viable pending stupid budget / design decisions. I would not have missed Wheelie at all to get a toy that looks like the render deco. The render showed clear yellow plastic used for the outer neck pieces, which then covers up the gray inner neck piece inside. They wouldn't have even needed to do 2 different clear plastic sprues. Could've just done clear and sprayed clear yellow over the outer neck. Oh well.
I've already taken apart the neck and noted it's the same too dark smokey plastic painted over in gold with a solid gray inner neck detail piece. The outer shell has relatively little molding. Matches the renders.
This is different than the POTP version, which uses one layer with much different inner molding. The inner molding is painted gold while the outer is left clear. This gives the illusion of 2 different layers.
I had new neck pieces made, but didn't notice until trying to put it together that a severe warp occurred in the tunnel for the screw hole. If it was solid, I could've salvaged it, but since it's clear, I couldn't. I'll attempt again later on. Thinking of trying 'box art' Grimlock first and then more of a MP style later.
Those with Jazz... is he a replacement for RTS? I have RTS and my only issue with him is size compared to Seige/Er
Is anyone selling reproductions of Grimlocks chest in clear?
You know it will happen. But the figure just came out. I’d give it a couple weeks.
Hoping Nonnef is planning on doing it. Or Dr. Wu. All other upgrade parts are 3D printed now
Can anyone confirm that this hidden detail exists still? On promotional pictures for grimlock 86 his neck was covered by clear plastic but it’s been changed to gold since then. I’ve been somewhat curious about this for a while now.
I think it's been confirmed that they are still there, as it seems all they changed are the colors from the initial pics.
