    I just won't be able to give Grimlock a sword.
    Two reasons:
    1. He didn't use one on the cartoon. Yeah, numerous iterations all used swords, but not the cartoon. Kind of like Beast Megatron and a rubber ducky. He didn't get the duck until he got his Transmetal body.
    2. My biggest reason- he can't wield one properly. The wrists don't have the right articulation, and any sword will end up looking awkward being "swung". It'll be this: L and should be this: \_ .

    Anyway, can we take a moment to appreciate that they included the engineering to do this?:

    Thanks, I intended to get some pics with the accessories and alt mode to contribute to the review thread but somehow the matrix effect part side tracked into the Livio DVD cover homage. I do plan on trying more reenactment pics when I get more 86 figures but they might end up being a different take on the composition too.

    I saw some pictures of the SS86 Grimlock on reddit and I was shocked to see how big the figure was. It's almost the same size as the masterpiece Grimlock! I didn't expect that at all! He also compared it to Beast Wars Megs and Megs is also pretty damn big! Never been a better time to be a Transformer toy collector.

    I think the main reason this'll be a crowd-pleaser is that there's not a huge variation in G1 Grimlocks. You want an update of the toy? This works. You want the affable dummy "Me Grimlock" Sunbow version? Yep, that's what he was designed for. Budiansky nutcase who tortures Blaster for no particular reason? Furman ultimate badass who makes Prowl cry by being so cool? He'll do great. None of the stuff with Jazz where you have most of the fans going "finally no door wings!" and the rest going "aw this'd be perfect with door wings."

    Okay, maybe a few people going "aw I wanted transparent gold bits," it's still a fandom, we're never gonna totally agree on something. But still.
