As I own MP Grimlock I doubt I’ll ever get this SS86 version although I was tempted to order it as I prefer the shoulder alignment on this. (What were the MP designers thinking with that hunched look?) But I think the MP is a bit better aside from that. (Not by much though. If I didn’t own the MP I’d have got this.)

I also own the Gigapower Grassor and I do plan on getting the SS86 Slag (subject to how he appears). I think Grassor is a great toy, (with a very silly name. Triceratops were vegetarians, don’t have know?) aside from that hollow dinosaur chin*, but I would like something that is a) Hasbro official, and b) in scale with MP Grimlock, which turns out to be around the same height as SS86 version. They should scale well with the other WFC figures. Grassor is a bit too big for that.

I’m undecided if I’ll actually sell Grassor though. It’s a magnificent figure with great options and accessories.

I don’t own any more of the MP style dinobots. I had planned on getting more Gigasaurs if I could find them for a decent price, but as it looks like there will be more SS86 on the way after Slag, I think I’ll wait for those.

*I think they did it that way because both jaws form a double hood in robot mode. If the lower jaw formed a bib like other versions of slag it need not be hollow.

I think now that we got Studio Series Jazz, I think I'm going to call off the whole Collecting G1 MPs. It's not worth it when they can't make all figures without licensing and it's just a waste of money.

Studio Series Jazz is just so close that that Porsche. But every time I think of Porsche I remember a story about how some got a brand new Porsche only driven 87 miles for only $50.

I noticed that his head does show through the canopy in car mode:

I turn it around when I transform the figure so the back of the head is showing through the windshield instead of his face

Okay, after a couple days I think I've got a reliable method for getting the front pegged together. Basically get the back pegged together first, then hold everything north of the waist squeezed together as you swing the arms around. That's what works for me, at least.

Any issues with the chest piece flopping around when you pose him? Some have mentioned that it's an issue.

I like how Grimlock doesn’t have the boulders for shoulders that the MP and some other G1-esque Grimlocks had, both official and 3p. They’re still bulky but not higher than they were on the animation model, which is an iconic look to me(same with the G1 toy).

Not a problem here either. When transforming back into bot mode, have to make sure the inner panels are all fully plugged in.

So what do people think are the chances of getting a proper deluxe Wheelie (along the lines of Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and Huffer)? Because that piece of rubbish that comes with Grimlock might be so bad I don't even throw it in the box I keep assorted accessories in; I might just toss it entirely.

The one included with Grimlock suggests they're probably not planning a deluxe, but the Titans Return legend scales pretty well.
