It's been a long wait for more figures based on the designs seen in Bumblebee, but they're finally here!

    IMG_20220131_195919036_HDR.jpg

Not to ratchet up the fun too quickly, but I love how dinky and dumpy the old Chief Medical Officer is here.

    IMG_20220131_195108423_HDR.jpg

Vehicle mode is a funky Cybertronian truck-thing, that conveniently already comes in earthen ambulance flavour. The design is cool, and very reminiscent of the fantastic WFC/FoC era of designs.

    IMG_20220131_195503966.jpg

And is also smol. He is smol doc.

    IMG_20220131_195154015.jpg

Ratchet's "overcompensation cannon" fits nicely on top too, so he can deliver medical assistance OF DOOM! at a moment's notice.

Robot mode. He has one of those too!

This mode fits together nice and solidly, once you've pegged his torso back together after that crazy transformation. I'm still getting over the motion sickness of flipping, twisting & spinning everything into place.....lovers of wacky transformations should enjoy this one.

    IMG_20220131_193557042.jpg

The robot sculpt and proportions are pretty excellent and thicc, for those of you that may have a thing for that kind of robot (you know who you are).

    IMG_20220131_193628939.jpg

Paint is clean for the most part too, with red and grey scattered about the place, to break up all that flat white. Could use some more red for better visual pop, but mine has some bits of slop on the right shoulder....careful what you wish for, I guess!

    IMG_20220131_193948435.jpg

Articulation is great, with lots of range in those knees and a crazy expressive neck balljoint. The shoulders only raise 90° due to the shoulder sculpt, but you can rectify that by rotating the arms in any upward direction. The wonders of modern engineering, ay.

    IMG_20220131_193451187.jpg

Overall, I'm happy with the compact corpsman and his colossal cannon. He's a must-buy for any collectors of the Bee Movie (no, not that one), so nab him before he's executed for treason against Cybertron.

These BB Movie designs came out great. Can't wait for this wave to drop.

Really makes me wish Bumblebee and Opitmus had turned out better. Maybe we'll get a Cybertronian Prime that's more to these guys' level?

He's looking great, but I feel he may be a bit too small for my tastes. I'll have to see him in person before I commit.

Yeah, as much as I like Optimus, I wish he'd have turned out a bit better. I love Off-road Bee, so hope they use that as a basis for a better Beetle do-over.

Prime definitely deserves a Cybertronian version that's more in tune with this latest wave!

Also, I just noticed the god tier light piping on Ratchet. Dear god, it's beautiful (almost looks photoshopped if you hit it with the right lighting)!

I really hope we get a new WV Bee cause while Prime is based on concept art it at least looks closer to the movie than VW Bee and doesn't stick out as inaccurate compared to VW Bee. And also cause that's main design of BB I want in my collection/on my BB shelf (reason I haven't gotten B-127 or Off road Bee)

If they did I'd be cool to try to see them turn the Cybertronian Prime designs that got used in the movie turn into the initial Cybertronian Prime concept art's alt mode (it's very WFC VG Prime like which I love). And I mean they did say at the roundtable they're open to doing concept art based stuff in SS so here's hoping we get this design or a version with that alt mode.

Look at those beautiful Optic "pupils" showing.

Well I'll be damned, I wasn't big on the design on-screen, but in physical toy form he looks fantastic. He could definitely use a tad more red / gray to break up the white, but the sculpt is great. My one other nitpick is that the headsculpt looks like it would make a better Prowl than Ratchet.

If anyone has WFC/FOC game figures, could you take a picture of Ratchet next to them?

Eh I'm fine that they went with the more G1 Earth looking Cybertronian robot mode since that's his main source of screentime. That being said I've love to have a SS figure of that design (maybe with the trailer) or the mode they went with in the movie with that alt mode.

Pfft, just because what you say makes perfect sense…doesn’t mean I have to like it.

Man. If he was bumped up to the size of Earthrise Ratchet, it could've made all the difference.

BBM Ratchet is tiny in his alt mode, it’s the length of ER Cliffjumper but approx around 10-15% taller.

Most of my WFC/FoC stuff is in storage, but here he is with both versions of Prime.

To be honest, I'd say Ratchet makes a perfect stand-in with the aesthetic (and size)!

This is good. The transformation is really unique and fun, and completely subverts what we naturally expect from a figure with a cybertronian mode. This is high effort, no shortcuts taken here.

The one downside to my copy is the leg joints, none of them are great, and the hips and waist definitely need tightening. The whole construction of his lower half could easily be tightened up, like how his front wheels clearly have nubs for robot and truck positions, there's just not enough tension to make them work.

I am definitely more interested in Iron hide now. The same transformation in fresh colours (and hopefully some refined tolerances), sounds good to me.

Will definitely work in alt mode with how the concept art for Cybertronian Prime's alt mode would have been if we saw it. It's very close to his WFC alt mode. Cybertron Prime CA WFC alt mode.jpg

SS 82 is a very nice figure, great representation and fun transformation, did some custom paint, and it looks a lot nicer!
